can't update msaccess mdb file
At an account running 3.0.14a Debian (same account as the dual log file
issue posted earlier). A user sporadically cannot update an Access mdb
file and gets access denied errors.

Folder redirection and "guest user (from session setup) not permitted to access this share" in logs
Hello, sambadmins.
First some background.
Server is (soon to be dist-upgraded) Debian Lenny 64-bit and samba version
is 3.5.6~dfsg-3~bpo50+1.
Samba as PDC, LDAP as passdb backend, pam/nss uses same ldap on Linux side,
so all ID-s are "in sync".
Locks settings are default.
Windows XP SP3 as clients.
Few weeks ago I started to see following in logs:

Bad EXE format for
I'm using Wine 0.9.11~winehq1-1 on Debian Sid.
I've been trying to install IE6 and MS Office 2000 for the last few
days. As a side note, the only way I managed to install IE6 was through
Sidenet. No luck with any other method (reg files, winetools...)
Office 2000 installs, but when I try to run the program it says:

What versions support MS Word?
Hello all,
If you're successfully running MS Word on Wine, could you please
tell me what version of Wine you're using? Also, did you use Winetools
for your setup or did you do it "from scratch"?
I was not able to run Word properly with recent Wine versions. When I
try to save a file, I get some message like "... Would you like to
repair this
application now?", after

Wine and MS Access problem
This is a MS Access problem I dont see in other posts.
I have wine up and running and I now have it working with one other
app, a spice cad program called scad3.exe. When I run it via wine I do
get error messages, but since the program comes up and works fine any
way I have been ignoring those errors. But I will list them here
anyway, in case some expert can tell if they are relevant to my

Samba closes my file session
When I am working with MS Access and the mdb file is in a Samba share, when
I close it and Access compacts the file, I have to reenter my username and
password for that share.
These are the logs in /var/log/samba (the lib/util_sock.c errors are common,
I get them other times without having my session closed)

Cannot share MSAccess DB after upgrade 3.0.5 to 3.0.8
This is really strange.
The samba server in question is a domain member server
on a Windows NT 4.0 Domain network. It runs Gentoo
2004.3 with a 2.4.24 kernel.
The Gentoo server was upgraded from Samba 3.0.5 to
3.0.8 last night. After the upgrade, the server had
to be re-joined to the domain. After that, everything
appeared to be working.
This morning we found that the MSAccess database files

Intermittent failures mapping drives.. need debugging help/sugges tions
There is a problem with a user mapping a network drive. Sometimes
he can map it, sometimes he can't.
SAMBA: 3.0-alpha18

rsc is a valid account on the machine he's trying to connect to

all parent directories, etc.)
The strange thing is sometimes it works, and sometimes it

Samba 3.0.7 / AD Domain Group Resolving
Hello List,
currently we have Samba 3.0.7 running on SLES8 systems with AD integration. We?re using the SerNet RPM?s (ftp.sernet.de)
Everything works fine so far, we just have a problem with resolving domain groups.
wbinfo -g works fine, the domain groups are correctly resolved. But when inserting a "valid users = @AD_DOMAIN_GROUP" statement in the smb.conf we get the following error:

overzealous Windows security
Hi,
I've got a MSAccess database on a linux server (fedora core 5, samba 3,
192.168.0.90)
which a Win XP client machine needs to use (192.168.0.50).
However, Access refuses to open the database because "it's not on the
LAN so is a
security risk".
How can I configure Samba so that Windows recognises 192.168.0.90 as a
local
machine, please?

Save open access databases
Hi all,
I don't have any MSAccess on my machines, so I can't test it, and I
would like to backup or invalidate that claim: if i have an MS Access
database open by several people on a windows share (say on a w2k
machine), will it be a problem backing it up on a linux backup server
mounting the windows share (while it is still open and written to by the
windows machines of course)?

VERY VERY Strange problem with Samba Printers
Hello :),
I have a very strange problem with printers shared via Samba. My
configuration:
- A Samba 2.2.8 server under Red Hat 8 as PDC
- Windows clients 9x/NT/2000/XP
All work fine: The clients can log into the pdc, access to its
shares and printers... butt.... in some W2k/XP I realized that
when a samba printer is configured as the Default PRinter in windows,
MS ACCESS 2002 can't open the

MDB database corruption
Hi everybody.
I have an issue with an MDB (Microsoft Access database file) which
corrupts frequently. The issue started after i rebuilt my server with
Ubuntu 8.04 and Samba 3.0.28a. Previously i was using QiLinux 1.2, and
an older version of Samba (can't remember which one).
Since the only thing i changed was the server operating system and
software, it stands to reason that possibly a

Access 97 on Wine 20041019
Hi all,
I'm having trouble getting Access 97 working with Wine 20041019. Word and
Excel work just fine, as far as I've used them, but Access simply refuses to
start. I've installed off an original installer CD through the WineTools (
2.11jo) utility. I customised the install, removing everything except for
the basic application files for Word, Excel and Access. I've also

Trouble with Homes
I am having trouble with getting my Homes section to work properly.
When I browse to the server from a Windows client, I can see my home
directory. However, when I try to access it, it challenges me for a
userID and password. No matter what I enter, I will not allow me
access. Can someone point me in the right direction to solve this?
Here are the errors...
