access samba 3.0 shares from Win2K, Win3K, WinXPProf. using netbios name
Hi: I have a Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Ed. as Domain controller, an its current domain functional level is 'Windows Server 2003'. Also, I have a RedHat Linux 7.3 server with SaMBa (tested with rpm samba-3.0.0-2, and compiling the samba source code). I'd joined the linux server to the AD tree without problems, access from it to the Win2003 shared resources too, but I have

Beginner question: extending pointer to 128 bits segfaults
Hi all, I've been trying to extend pointer size of the X86 target to 128 bits. For the prortype, I would like nothing more than the pointers being i128 type with the same value as before. All I've done was changing the data layout string to p:128:128 and when trying to run a basic program such as: int a = 42; int *p = &a; it segfaults with the following stack trace: #0

Problem getting Solaris 8 server to join an AD Domain
I went out and compiled the latest MIT krb5-1.4, openldap-2.2.23, and Samba 3.0.14a. I am able to authenticate fine using kinit, and use smbclient -k with no problems. I can not get the server to join the domain with net ads join -U xxxxx. I am getting the error ads_connect: Strong(er) authentication required The AD server is running Win2003, and we do not have administrative

Samba 3.0 stable: make --with-afs fails on SuSE 8.2
Hi All- I have SuSE 8.2 installed on two different Intel machines, with (as far as I can determine) all required packages for doing what I'm trying to do here. Both machines suffer the same problems. I didn't find any SuSE 8.2 rpms, so I'm trying to build Samba 3.0 (stable) (24th Sep, 2003) on either of these machines but am having problems with it. As root, I did a

getent passwd does not list trusted users
I am running Samba 3.5.5 on Solaris 10. This is the latest Sun/Oracle provided build. I have an ldap backend for everything (unix+samba accounts, idmapping for domain trusts.) The Samba server is a PDC for a domain we can call "SAMBA." Each samba account is tied to a unix account. I have a one-way domain trust setup with a Windows 2003 domain which we can call

Win2000 / Win2003 ADS dnsHostName and servicePrincipalName
Sharing my experience with SSO of Linux clients to Active Directory. Over the last 2 years or so, i had a great deal of trouble getting and _keeping_ authentication to our Win2000/Win2003 Active Directory system working from OpenSUSE and CentOS clients. ADS authentication would work until reboot, a few days, a month max. We'll see how long this lasts. Another problem was dealing with the

Samba 3.0.4 + OpenAFS 1.2.11 and fake-kaserver
I'm trying to build the --with-fake-kaserver option in 3.0.4 on RHEL 3.0. I'm using the srpms provided on the samba.org site (http://us3.samba.org/samba/ftp/bin-pkgs/RedHat/SRPMS/samba-3.0.4 -1.src.rpm). My OpenAFS version is 1.2.11, rpms (openafs-1.2.11 and openafs-devel-1.2.11) provided from openafs.org. It compiles fine if I omit the --with-fake-kaserver configure option.

Samba3+KBC
Hi list, I run a Samba-3.0.0beta3 / Heimdal-0.6 system and want it to be the BDC of our Win2003-controlled domain. The reason is that we had to move from our perfectly working samba-PDC to a windows system and I want to keep the user profiles on the old, but stronger, Linux box(now on SuSE8.2). I get(kinit) a ticket of the Win2003 without any problem, even for admin users. But If I try to connect

problems mounting Win2003 Server Share - smbclient is working smbmount is not
Hi, this is my first post to this list. I have to mount an Win2003 SmallBusinessServer share to my linux box. So far so good. The user "user" exists with the same pass on the linux-box like in the ActiveDirectory at the Win2003-Server. I added the user with smbpasswd -a user . I joined the domain with: net rpc join -S domain -U user mount -t smbfs -o username=user, workgroup=domain,rw
