idmap_rid / roaming profile permissions / NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
I'm struggling with roaming profile permissions as I can not "see" the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM account. I have: -samba file server with acl 3.0.14a -authentication with winbind and idmap_rid against Windows 2003 ADS -using "default domain" in smb.conf for winbind The roaming profile directories are on the samba machine under the users home directory. Although there is a great deal of documentation on the internet, I could not find anything specifically to this... A small howto on what smb.conf/pam/nsswitch/xxx parameters are required to

difficulties in rid mappings in 3.0.25
I use the sernet samba packages on debian sarge and have problems after upgrading to 3.0.25 with rid mappings. My rid configuration for 3.0.24 looks like this idmap backend = rid:ISC=500-100000000 idmap uid = 500-100000000 idmap gid = 500-100000000 after updating to 3.0.25 I get a core dump of winbind (log at the end of the post) with these settings. I tried to use the new configuration

Wbinfo -Y couldn't work with idmap_rid for BUILTIN groups
Hi, wbinfo -Y BUILTIN\group can work without idmap_rid in Samba-3.0.14a. But I'm experiencing wbinfo -Y with idmap_rid failed for SID to GID conversion of BUILTIN groups. Since idmap_rid only works in a single domain, and captures workgroup's domain sid as a real domain sid in rid_idmap_get_domains(), when running "wbinfo -Y BUILTIN/System Operators", the function

after upgrade from 3.0.7 -> 3.0.14 extrem slow access from window s 2000
Hello list, a samba server serves the home directories for about 100 Windows 2000 clients. We had samba 3.0.7 (on debian woody) installed, and upgraded to 3.0.14a (we used the sernet packages on debian sarge). Now access to files from windows 2000 clients is extremely slow, especially on .exe files. Simply selecting a exe file from windows explorer may freeze it for 2-10 seconds. Other file

file_column
I use file_column and it works fine. I tried to change the store_dir to a the path I want my files to be stored and not the default. I stored some images fine. But when I try to reach my images it seems like file_column uses the model_name/attribute_name on the image and not the store_dir I used. How can I change this ? Thanks in advance -- Alexander Antonakakis

Samba-4.10.13 IPv6 turn it off
I am working on a FreeBSD jail (12.1p4) using samba410. I have joined this service to our existing Samab DC DOMAIN using samba-tool domain join. This worked as far as I can tell. I have these entries in smb4.conf # BOF # Global parameters [global] netbios name = SAMBA-02 realm = BROCKLEY-2016.HARTE-LYNE.CA server role = active directory domain controller workgroup = BROCKLEY-2016

[LLVMdev] Address Sanitizer on Android
> When I run 'djpeg' on JellyBean, ASan reports the error message below. > > ==28210==Shadow memory range interleaves with an existing memory > mapping. ASan cannot proceed correctly. ABORTING. Got figured out. I needed to use TARGET_LDFLAGS. LOCAL_LDFLAGS seems to be ignored in my clang build. LOCAL_CFLAGS += -fsanitize=address TARGET_LDFLAGS +=-fsanitize=address -target

[LLVMdev] Address Sanitizer on Android
I have simple standalone ASan examples working on Android, and now I'd like to try using ASan with the Android build system. I'm building the release_33 branch of llvm+clang+compiler-rt with CMake. To test, I'm looking at libjpg, because with just a small change its Android.mk it compiles in a few seconds and without needing any additional dependencies. When I run 'djpeg' on

Idmap_rid differs on FreeBSD and SLES!
Hi, I'm trying to setup some servers with Samba and Winbind. One of the servers are both a Samba server and a NFS server so I want to have the same ID:s on the files that I export with NFS. All users are all in one AD domain. The problem is that the Samba/NFS server are running SLES 10 and the others are running FreeBSD 6.2 and they get different UID:s and GID:s. All the FreeBSD servers are

Convert idmap_rid to idmap_hash?
I was looking through the change log of 3.3.0 and noticed that a new idmap_hash was introduced that seems to play well with trusted domains. What means are available to convert all my rids to this new hash so I can update file permissions? Samba RPMs for RedHat/FC and idmap_rid
As discussed previously on this list, Samba RPMs for Fedora Core do not include idmap_rid support. This is also true for older RedHat distributions. SuSE on the other hand, seems to have been patching in idmap_rid support since 3.0.5 or so; and with trusted domain support, to boot. Harrumph. I've been able to rebuild samba srpms on FC2 and RedHat 8 by patching the samba distributed rpms,

CentOS 4.2 + idmap_rid
Do you know if it is possible to use the idmap_rid feature in Centos and Winbind/Samba (v. 3.0.10)? When I try to start it with idmap_rid enabled, I get this in my log... AD member server setup with winbind idmap_rid - users prompted fo r password
Question: How can I stop users from being prompted for a password? Is secrets.tdb needed? Do you think my problems are caused by having a different workgroup to realm? Problems: I've gone over samba-by-example 7.3.4.1 on setting up idmap_rid with winbind quite a few times now. I also checked what JHT has said in chapter 12. All of it seems correct. However I get loads of this before the
