IMAP frontend authenticating proxy with GSSAPI/Kerberos SSO
Hi, My IMAP backend server is lacking SSO authentication, so I am trying to set up Dovecot in front of it as an authenticating proxy. Fortunately, my backend server provides a way to ignore the password provided and will simply trust the username given to be authenticated, using plain login authentication. I'm struggling with setting this up, as it seems to me that as soon as I enable

domain level authentication?
I'm trying to set up a samba server, such that 60 or so win 98 users can log into the linux box and be plopped into their respective home directories on it. I don't want them to be promted for passwords, I want the PDC, an NT box, to take care that in such a wy that I do not need a smbpasswd file. I know almost nothing about NT, but the server running works just fine, and will let people

dovecot corrupted transaction log
Hi I came across this error which happend immedately after a mail delivery to the inbox. Should I look for the problem externally to dovecot (ie. file system, operating system) or within dovecot? I never saw this error before installing 2.2.1, with 2.2.2 I seemed to get even more of them so currently back on 2.2.1 Thanks John Jun 11 00:00:05 rosalia dovecot: imap(myemail at mydomain): Error:

setfacl(1) - Can FreeBSD's ACLs contain groups from NT/AD domains ?
Hi all, I have "FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #1: Wed Jul 25" authenticating successfully against active directory via samba's winbindd(8). I need to manage samba shares via FreeBSD ACLs and CIFS ACLs. From my reading of setfacl(1) I should be able to set group permissions using the syntax of DOMAIN\group-name. For example: #setfacl -d -m g:"MYDOMAIN\mygroupname":rwx test

Samba 4.5.3 AD DC - issues with sysvol when setting up Group Policies
I remain baffled as to why richard.h cannot access the sysvol share. Permissions all seem ok from what I can see and I'm not sure why this should be any different from normal AD share behaviour (our other shares are working fine for domain users) I would really appreciate it if someone could let me know whether the sysvol has become corrupt in some way and I am wasting my time even trying

Samba 4.5.3 AD DC - issues with sysvol when setting up Group Policies
Hi All, Trying to avoid making this into a "Me too" response :) but this is the single largest issue I have with Samba at the moment, I've struggled with this for literally years, both before I switched to rfc2307 (which did help in many areas) and since switching. I am following this thread with great interest, in the hope that I can get my GPOs working, too. Currently I've

bit by 3.0.8 username map affect on homes share
Samba is a domain member server authenticating to a MS-Windows domain controller. With 3.0.7 and all previous version for the past few years I could map a Windows to Unix userid in the username map file like so.. fred = fredw His home directory was then accessible as \\servername\fredw so \\servername\%username% from a Windows NTx client. I make EXTENSIVE use of that functionality. I missed

Issue with joing to ADS2003 domain
I have set up LDAP/KRB5 access to my active directory network. If I do a getent passwd, I see the users with a unix UID/GID. If use kinit, I can get a token. If I su to a user, it creates a home folder, and shows correct IDs etc. However the machine will not log in via ssh or the GUI. In secure I see: Oct 27 11:14:55 rhelads sshd[4190]: pam_krb5[4190]: ccache dir: /tmp Oct 27 11:14:55 rhelads

I'm scratching my head at the following issue that surfaced with Windows XP Prof. + SP2. First, a summary of my configuration: . The OS for PDC is Mandrake 9.2, the file server (FILES) is Mandrake 10.0. . 1000BaseT Ethernet. With XP SP1 and Samba 3.0.7 or prior,
