I wrote a topic "Limit of group membership for a user?" with the same
problem, and I don't have any answer by the samba team. I have the most
recent Samba 3.0.21b, OpenLDAP 2.2.28 and Glibc 2.3.6 version on a
Gentoo (kernel 2.6.15) and I have the same problem. I check the
NGROUP_MAX (65535) and the NSS_BUFLEN_GROUP (2048) value of the glibc.

Segfault in Samba
Hi!
My Samba setup broke after upgrading Samba from 3.0.5-1 to 3.0.6-3 using
Debian apt-get upgrade. It seems to me, that the problems lies within
winbind. Any help would be appreciated!

Winbind on Slackware - no auth but all the rest OK
Hi list,
I got a Winbind issue that I'm stuck with since a very long time, this
is getting ridiculous.
On our Linux shell server (Slackware 9.1), I Installed the whole samba
from self-compilation, tried many different configure options but
mostly --without-pam --with-ldap, and everything required from all the
HowTos I've read.
I start winbindd via: # /usr/local/samba/sbin/winbindd -F -i

Anonymous rsync + chroot + LDAP
[* I'm not on the mailing list, so please copy me on any replies; thanks. *]
I was running an anonymous rsync server with chroot (i.e. not overriding
the default) on a Fedora Core 2 system using flat files for
authentication, which I recently upgraded to Fedora Core 3 using LDAP for
authentication, and found that the anonymous rsync server wouldn't start
up. The problem when away if I

Samba-LDAP TLS problems with inofficial Debian OpenLDAP 2.2 packages
Dear Torsten, dear samba list reader
Three days ago I switched our domain from a NT 4 domaincontroller to
Samba-OpenLDAP, controlled by a Debian Sarge system. I installed the
following inofficial Debian OpenLDAP 2.2 packages (I know these are not
supported, but TLS with OpenSSL is essential to us...):
Package: slapd
Version: 2.2.20-1.hrz.1
Package: libldap2.2
Version: 2.2.20-1.hrz.1

encountering a problem despite using ramdisk or not.
Key items in my config file are as follows:

# Optional ramdisk.

smbd died when startet after slapd
Hello all,
yesterday i've rebootet our fileserver. Everything was fine. Samba up,
slapd up, getent passwd/groups working. Test-Logon on one Workstation ok.
This morning our users can't logon to the domain. Bad!
In many logs i got smb panics. Here's an example:

Samba4 Member Server not working
Hi,
I have one Samba4 server running as Active Directory Domain Controller.
It's working like a charm.
So I needed to add another server to be a Member Server (File Server).
The server is running samba-4.0.9.
Configured and compiled ok:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/samba --sysconfdir=/etc
--localstatedir=/var --mandir=/usr/man --bindir=/usr/bin
--sbindir=/usr/sbin --libdir=/lib

LDAP SSL
Hi Rowland,
Fair comment. This is not a new domain and we are migrating to AD.
The box in question runs Samba 3.6 (PDC and a physical box) and as such we are not able to directly migrate it. We are adding a Samba 4 box (a VM) , to which will become the new PDC . This box will then be used to migrate to AD. The Samba 3 box will converted as a file server.
The confusion in smb.conf is possibly

printing from windows via smb print server
Hi All,
I have two boxes running samba 3 on fedora2.
Box A is the primary domain controller & smb file server and we (a primary
school in QLD, Australia) can login from our windows 98 machines with samba
verifying usernames & passwords.
This week I've been trying to setup Box B as a print server (and eventually
limit students' printing sprees). I've connected the

Fedora2 and zaptel - using the udev
Hi,
I am sorry if this message has been reposted, but for some reason I am
having problems with posting it.
I configured asterisk and zaptel modules with fedora2.
I want to be able to load the zaptel wcfxo and wcfxs modules.
For now I will use only the Wildcard TDM400P card.
I am able to load the modules but I cant configure them using ztcfg or
