it can't get access to a W2K domain anymore. Everything is working,
nothing is changed in the configs, the Linux machines are simply

w2K that causes this? Another strange thing is that once in a while

PostPath
Hi,
I just stumbled upon the PostPath server, a protocol compatible
Exchange replacement, they are using samba extensively internally.
Users are managed in Active Directory, just like Exchange. Looks like
this one is going to beat openchange to the market.

winbind authentication with domain offline
Hi,
this is actually more a pam question I believe, but I guess you'll
know enought about it to answer my question. I would like to enable
domain logins on some linux laptops, like I do on the desktops. This
works great when the domain is online, but when users are off site
login still has to work of course. Is there a way to enable winbind
login, but do a fallback on a cached password when

Private shares problem
Hi,
I have something weird going on and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I
have Samba 2.2.8a running on FreeBSD 5.1 with NTLM authentication. I have
been able to get a public share to work and it authenticates fine. When I
try to create a private share with only 1 or 2 users having access it asks
for a user name and password and when I supply the username and password it

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Joining a mixed 2000 domain worked correctly for Samba 3.0.2a.
After upgrading to either samba 3.0.9 or 3.0.10, the net ads join command
completes successfully, and wbinfo -u returns a list of users, but any attempt to
actually authenticate those users fails with NT_STATUS_PIPE_NOT_AVAILABLE.
wbinfo -t also does not work, and produces the log file

Winbind/ntlm_auth issues
Hi,
I'm struggling to get squid+ntlm_auth working correctly. I have successfully joined the domain, and I am able to successfully enumerate groups and users using wbinfo. I can also successfully run "wbinfo -a."
However, once I configure Squid to use ntlm_auth per:

domain user list as well as a "wbinfo -g and get a group list. For some
reason though, the authentication isn't working.
I tried to "wbinfo -a" and

Using idmap_rid backend, cannot browse home directory from XP
Samba version is 3.0.10 on Gentoo linux. I am trying
to use idmap_rid backend in a Windows AD environment,
the Linux PC acting only as a domain member. I am
using idmap_rid because I need UID/GID predictability.
I can log in to console correctly, and it shows the
right user and the "Domain Users" as the group.
When I use default winbind TDB, I can browse the home
directory from an XP
