3.0 beta 3 - NT and Unix group mapping
Hello everyone! I've been testing the 3.0 beta 3 (I've just upgraded from 2.2.7), and made a PDC configuration with Windows XP Pro clients. Everything works fine, however, I'm fine tuning the NT and Unix group mapping; in particular, I want to map the Unix group 'users' to the NT group 'Power Users'. I've tried: net groupmap modify ntgroup="Power Users"

Samba + OpenLDAP: LDAP server is running but could not respond to a search request
Hi, all. I am trying to set up SAMBA PDC with OpenLDAP using smbldap-tools from IDEALX. This is on a SLES 9 and I had run the latest online update as well as SP1 and SP2 for it. At this point smb is off and ldap is running. I have gotten up to where I needed to test for: ldapsearch -x -b "dc=sample,dc=com" "(ObjectClass=*)" # extended LDIF # # LDAPv3 # base

Group Nesting
Hey all, Is there a comprehensive how-to on the new group nesting features? I've found a little bit of info, but nothing that paints a clear picture of the process. If anyone has any insight or can point me to a tutorial it would be much appreciated. I created the local groups and mapped them. Wbinfo and getent all seem to be working. I've been trying to do the 'net rpc group addmem

Domain Administrator problems
Hi All, I have a tdbsam backend on Samba PDC and am trying to set a user up as a domain admin. I read that instead of the old admin users line in smb.conf you now use net groupmap to map unix groups to NT groups. I have a user called toni in unix group admins and have run: net groupmap add rid=512 ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=admins running: net groupmap list gives: Domain

Seems like nodes are matching the default node before they are matching the more specific nodes. My site.pp has: include "nodes/*.pp" In the nodes directory are two files, default.pp and nagios_server.pp. default.pp: node default { include role::common } nagios_server.pp: node ''mon01.us1.xxx.com'' { $node_env = "production" include

domain users + local admin group
Howdy All, My samba server has decided to throw a hissy fit and its quite distressing ( not hair tearing out yet but will be soon ). To give domain users admin rights to their local machine I have in the past simply made domain users part of the local admin group. Perhaps not the most elegant solution , but it works. I today installed two more machines ( XP )onto the network and the machines

auto Sync username when connecting SMB using winbind feature
I have question, if I have about 500 Active Directory users on my network and I would like them to connect to my Linux server via SMB from MS Windows box. Would there be any way where I can setup an auto mount of the users home directory on the Linux Server, so I can avoid adding 500 users to the Linux server? Thanks, ________________________________ Puneet Talwar Contractor/CIPS Unix

can we map windows folder onto unix
Hello, Does anyone on this list know of any utilities that enables mapping windows folder onto Unix machine? I am going to do the migration of our intranet site from IIS to Apache in Linux. As the intranet content is over 15Gig, I need to migrate in a phase wise manner. So if I can run web server on linux serving the files from the old intranet box, this would help. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks,
