Urgent RHL Samba problem update
We have Red Hat linux 3.0 ES.
We had samba set up so that it would authenticate against the linux
password file/database. That is the set up we have had here for the past
two years, firstly with RH linux ES 2.1 and now with RH linux ES 3.0.
Our users have Windows XP/2000 PC's, and when they would use the net use
command on their PC (or mount network drives via Windows Explorer) it

RHL init.d/sshd ipv6 hack
Hello all,
I'm using the attached patch.
With it, if you add
OPTIONS="-6"
in
/etc/sysconfig/sshd
(this kind of sysconfig/<name> is a pretty normal RHL practice), then you
can enable ipv4 and ipv6 on RHL without problems and without having to
modify the init.d/sshd script.
This or something like should IMO be added.

2.5.1p1 logout hangs after RHL crond start
The RHL 6.2 command "/etc/rc.d/init.d/crond start" prevents
clean logout from compiled version of OpenSSH-2.5.1p1 on all
hosts.
The command "/etc/rc.d/init.d/crond stop" is OK.
This occurs for interactive or command line requests.
ssh remotehost /etc/rc.d/init.d/crond stop --- works every time
ssh remotehost /etc/rc.d/init.d/crond start --- hangs every time

RHL OpenSSH upgrade: _new_ sshd is not started
Hello all,
A few days ago I noticed that the following seems to happen when upgradign
OpenSSH on Linux-based (/etc/rc.d/init.d/sshd) based systems:
- sshd is restarted with 'sshd restart'; however sshd serving in port 22
is not replaced.
- you have to kill the old one (netstat -ltp | grep :ssh ; kill
...) first, then restart sshd.
- This might happen only when performing the upgrade

geo-rep will not initialize
FYI, I will be traveling for the next week, and may not see email much
until then.
Your questions...

Yes. I wondered that, too, whether geo-rep would not start simply
because there was nothing to do. But yes, there are a few files created

Mitel integration
Hi,
A potential client (hotel) has a Property Management System that talks the
"Mitel" protocol to their current Mitel PBX in order to receive CDRs
(which end up being rated by the PMS system and charged back to guests).
Does anyone know of any (free or otherwise) docs on this protocol, or
better still have experience interfacing asterisk in a hotel situation
like this? The PMS

svyglm
Dear Professor Lumley
I am relatively new to using R and also to logistic regression. We have
analysed our Dudley Health Survey using the survey package. I am now
trying to look at associations using svyglm but I am unsure of how to
interpret the output and present the resulting model or whether there
are any other things I should do to check the validity of the model.
Below is an example of

Why are all repos < 5.6 listed?
Greetings all.
I just enabled all repos on my system, to enable me to find
a particular package. This is the first time I have noticed
all the Centos repos < 5.6 being listed.
Is this a new feature, to include all repos pre 5.6 now?
Here's the output of the aforementioned yum command - sorry
it's a little bit long:

geo-rep will not initialize
I am trying to test a trivial configuration of 2 hosts, each of which
has a simple 1-brick volume, that I wish to geo-rep from one to the other.
When I first experimented with this a couple years ago, it worked, but
that effort ended prematurely and I never finished the real setup. I am
coming back to it now for other purposes.
I'm on Fedora 39 with gluster 11.1. I'm using this guide:

Hi Karl,
I don't see anything mentioning shared storage in the docs and I assume it's now automatic but can you check 'gluster volume get all cluster.enable-shared-storage' ?
I would give a try with RH's documentation despite it's old it has some steps (like the shared volume) that might be needed:

3.0.2a - homes occasionally missing
Clients are Windows 2000; server is running Samba version
3.0.2a. We're experiencing a sporadic issue with the homes share
occasionally coming up missing. All other shares remain mappable and
accessable. If the workstation is rebooted, it can once again access
the share.
This is new behavior; 2.2.8a did not have this problem. As of
yet I haven't been able to figure out what

3.0.2a Windows XP can't find homes
Clients are Windows 2000; server is running Samba version
3.0.2a. We've been a W2K shop for some time but have started to get in
a few Windows XP systems (principally laptops). The issue we're
experiencing with the Win XP machines is that they can't map the homes
share, either through a VPN or when connected directly to the network
the samba server is on. All other shares remain

Having a problem ...
Running a Windows 2000 domain; recently we've made some security
changes to deny anonymous users from being able to get at our user list.
It would appear that one of my Domain Controllers hadn't been rebooted
after that security change, and now that it has been rebooted, I can't
mount smb shares off of one of our if the security setting is in place.
