Binary distribution for AIX 4.3
Hi all, Does anyone know of a binary distribution of a fairly recent version of samba for AIX 4.3 ? I've tried the 2.2.5 binary distribution from www.bullfreeeware.com but when I ran testparm and smbstatus, just as a quick check, I got symbol table errors. Thanks in advance. Printing under Wine - Mission Impossible? (solved)
I finally compiled latest 20021031 tar.gz myself with cups development deb package installed and finally got cups to work. I also send a note to the daily deb maitainer to ask him and "why not" suggest him to include this feature. Hopes he does :) -daniel http://www.debian-gnu.com >From: Duane Clark <dclark@akamail.com> >To: wine-users@winehq.com >Subject: Re:

Printing under Wine - Mission Impossible?
Hello, I've been trying to print under apps running with wine for a while. In wine docs it says wine automatically detect CUPS printer. Well, I have CUPS installed, everything prints great, except apps running under wine, which say that no printers are installed. CUPS version installed. Debian woody version - 1.1.14.3 Wine version installed. Prepackaged Deb 20021013. Can anyone point me

Change it to avoid log throttling with mail_log plugin. - Changing message flags

openssh static build - mission impossible?
I am trying to build a static version of ssh, sshd and sftp, but after banging my head against the wall for the best part of the last 3 days I am about to give up... Since I plan to use this on an embedded device (building dropbear is *NOT* an option!), I've excluded as many openssh configure options as I can but, ultimately, failed. This is my setup: export LDFLAGS=' -pie -z relro -z

What version of Samba will work with an AIX version of Unix?
Hi all We are currently looking to implement a scenario where our AIX Unix Server and Windows Server can communicate with each other using a version of Samba. We currently scan images which are stored on our Unix system and ideally we would like our Windows Server to have access to these files. The software we use for our daily business is Unix based so the the scanned images have to be

Space Shuttle Mission 2007 - mouse cursor stuck
Hello, Space Shuttle Mission 2007 (http://www.space-shuttle-mission.com/) is awsome simulator I found missing in AppDB. Have anyone tried it? Unfortunately I have problem with it - mouse cursor is stuck within invisible rectangle, smaller then game screen surface. While using virtual desktop you can see that "real" mouse cursor moves out of game screen, but in-game cursor stays

SIP Multicast Support desperately needed :: Mission critical bug in Asterisk
Friends! I have recently discovered that chan_sip, chan_sip2 and chan_sipx all lack support of SIP multicast. This has a major impact on my network, since I haven't got the bandwidth needed to call all of you and send you this message. With that feature missing, I have to go back to old Internet communication methods and use e-mail instead:

3.0.20rc2 infinite dir loop
We have Win98 DOS (4.11.2222) clients that exhibit behaviors thought to have been corrected. They are running the MS-CLIENT redirector. 3.0.11 will do a directory listing correctly and show all entries in upper case. 3.0.14a gets stuck in a dir loop with the client and displays non-mangled names in lower case. 3.0.20rc2 gets stuck in a dir loop with the client and displays all entries in upper

Binary distributions
I have just finished compiling Samba 2.0.7 and creating HP-UX swinstallable bundles for both HP-UX 10.20 and 11.00. In both cases I compiled with the +DAportable flag so that the linker would create PA-RISC 1 code, for hardware portability. If anybody has a need for pre-compiled HP-UX bundles I'd be happy to make these available. I can also compile on AIX 4.3 and SunOS 4.13 / Solaris 2.6

Exclude holidays in a subset of dates?
Hi All, I am iterating through dated materials, with variable start and end dates, and would like to skip procedures everytime I encounter a weekend or holiday. To do this, I thought the easiest way would be to create a TRUE/FALSE vector corresponding to each day where it is TRUE if a workday, and FALSE if a weekend or holiday. So far I have been able to do this for weekdays: startDate <-

Re: Samba on AIX 5.1
Dee, No, I have not resolved the problem. But compiling with gcc seems to work "better" than C for AIX V6 I have the same problem as You when trying to start the executables. I get a core dump even when running "testparm". I also think that bad iconv support in AIX can be the problem, so I have tried to install GNU libiconv and GNU gettext after finding this hint on tng-samba

Samba and Terminal Server Whitepaper
Attached is a 500KB read-only .doc file with a Samba and Terminal Server whitepaper. I have tried to hit every known issue and all available workarounds. If anyone has comments or suggestions, let me know. JT has it, so it should end up in the next How-To. Sorry about the file format, but the .pdf was 2.5MB, which I thought was too big to post. completed printjobs stay in queue after "upgrade" 3.0.20rc2 -> 3.0.20
A few weeks ago, I upgraded Samba 3.0.1x to 3.0.14a . After the upgrade, all completed printjobs on all 40 printers stayed in samba's print queue (they were removed from the unix-printqueue). When I installed 3.0.20rc2, everything back to normal. But since the upgrade this weekend to 3.0.20, the same thing happens again: no jobs were removed from the samba printerqueue's. Removing
