Error while contacting ADS from Samba server
Hi List,
We have a problem in connecting ADS server from SAMBA. Whenever we
try to contact the
ADS server from the Samba its giving error as LDAP_NO_RESULTS_RETURNED.
We have varified the code also, in the code also its giving three
possibilities to raise that error message,
I am pasting the portion of code here,
File name: libads/ldap.c
Function name: ads_server_info

3.0.22 on solaris9 does not start as daemon
I'm trying to start smbd (samba 3.0.22) as daemon (smbd -D
--configfile=/etc/smb.conf) on solaris 9 sparc with current recommended
patches but the smbd process never returns from trying to become a daemon.
Samba was built with ldap, (heimdal) kerberos and active directory support
using gcc 3.3.2 from sunfreeware. Solaris 9 is a new install on a
development
machine with production patches.

No KDC in requested realm (workgroup name)
Hello all,
this is with Samba 3.3.4 on FreeBSD, built locally from ports. The
server is joined to a Windows 2008 AD domain. I'm only using winbind,
because all I need are users and groups; this isn't a file server.
As far as I can tell, it is actually working fine; winbindd can get
all the required information from the DC.
The NetBIOS name of the domain is MYDOMAIN, the DNS name is

Samba 4 kinit: cannot contact any KDC in requested realm // TSIG error
I had freshly installed an Ubuntu Server 12.04lts and Samba 4.0.1 using the
internal DNS.
I followed the official HowTo until "kinit administrator at DOMAIN.LOCAL"
It didn't work (cannot contact any kdc...)
A "netstat" showed that "avahi-daemon" was running at:

Have succesfully installed and configured samba on BSD up to the point
of joining the active directory domain.

Hi, I am trying to get samba/winbind setup to do active directory

I can kinit and klist just fine. However, when I try to "net ads join

ADS and samba domain member: ads_connect: Cannot resolve network address for KDC in requested realm
Hello,
I am having a problem getting my server to join our realm as a domain
member server. I have read through google, yahoo, and this list, but I
cannot find the answer yet.
When I run: net join ads -Uadministrator and try to login it gives the
following error:
