pdbedit not working as documented
I have am hitting a wall with pdbedit, as shown below. Any workarounds would be greatly appreciated. I am encountering the inability to change any users (profile) SID on Samba 3.x for Linux and BSD, which causes the accounts to no longer recognize their local Samba 2 profiles once they join Samba 3 domain. If I add a new user and pdbedit -a user -U SID it ignores the -U. The old profiles appear

Tripplite Smart1500SLT configuration?
I'm read through the archives trying to figure out how to get a Tripplite SmartPro SLT 1500 configured with NUT using the USB interface (it also has a serial interface but I'd rather not). The thread which this link belonged to seemed most instructive: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/nut-upsdev/2007-January/001656.html and I followed it as best I could. I'm running a

smb show /tmp when you use UNC
Have a perplexing problem here... If you UNC to the IP the shares show up fine, if you UNC to the DNS name when I go into the shares they seem to be pointed to /tmp. Also the printer isn't visible when you use UNC to DNS name. Since I'm using server based security is it possible it can't indentify me? Secondary Groups and Group Mapping
We are having what appears to be two main issues in our attempt to setup Samba 3.0.0 compiled from src on Solaris 8. We are using Samba to provide Unix shares on W2K clients, and to authenticate against a W2K Active Directory server. OpenLDAP is used on the Samba side for the UID/GID to SID mappings. The first issue deals with the file sharing. Even if a file gives full permission to one of a

Problems connecting to Samba Server
I installed Samba (bbf format) on AIX 4.3.2 for the first time. The client is NT 4.0(SP 5). I am able to connect to the tmp share name. Also, after a few attempts I was able to connect to another share name that requires a password. When I powered on my PC the next day, I was asked to enter the network password, I did. I typed the username and password but it was rejected. Next I tried

\\Pettit Connect As: Password: On the server side, I didn't get far because the domain name come up NULL so it failed on that test. Below are two logs log98.txt and log2000.txt that show full debug info. I might just have a stupid configuration or installation mistakes. I am sure that my basic configuration must work since it is a very typical setup. Any help will be highly appreciated
