Users can read/write to other user's directories
Hi, I am setting up Samba on my CentOS server and have Samba version 3.0.28-1.el5_2.1. I started configuring the smb.conf file and then went on to use webmin to configure it. I have made sure I have restarted Samba after making changes. When I connect from my Windows PC to the Samba server, I can read and write to other Samba user's directories. Here is an ls from my CentOS server:

Multiple PDCs, Single Domain
Hello, I have a rather experimental question to ask. I know that under standard circumstances, that you cannot have multiple PDC for a single domain, as they will conflict with each other. I am dealing with a case of a school district, where there are multiple buildings. There are T-1s that tie together each of the buildings, then a bonded T-1 grants access to the internet through the main admin

User profiles are not stored on server
Hello! I work at a school in Norway, and am experimenting with a Linux box as a server for our Win95 network. Most things seem to work like they should, except one important thing: The user profiles are _only_ stored on the local machine... I am running Internet Explorer 4.01 with the Users function enabled. The network setup is as follows: Samba box as WINS server. "Log on to Windows NT

few idea about dealing with "Large Roaming Profiles"
Well, I put it here. All the experience gained in about-half-an-year-management of Samba-PDC + numerous NT4 workstations is included. Also, I'd be glad to hear from you what did I miss! 1) when NT4-workstations are organised into "domain", there's some action assosiated to this: "to log into domain". samba ain such case acts as PDC (primary domain controller),

[LLVMdev] Looking for C Parser
Hi, I'm looking for a skeleton C parser. I've done C parsers before and I know to do a real parse, you need to have a symbol table so that you can keep track of typedefs. I'm wanting to write a tool that will take existing C source (after the preprocessor) and, for example, tell me when a particular function is called (what source line and from within what function) and tell me the

Help! Unknown error. Boss is gonna kill me. You cannot view the list of users at this time. Please try again later.
I have had a recurring error with samba for the past couple of days and for some reason I can't figure out what the problem is. I am running a Linux box running samba 2.0.7, windows nt terminal server 4, and windows 98 on three boxes. The nt box is set up as a pdc and each other box has a computer account. The samba server, when started, logins into the domain. The samba server then acts as a

Non-root users cannot use smbpasswd
I've searched the archives for an answer to this problem, and yet nothing that works seems to have been posted. I've seen it posted many times In my particular case, I'm running Samba 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.5.1, configured with the --with-smbwrapper, --with-automount, and --with-syslog options. I also have samba set up as a PDC, and that seems to be working fine. A stripped down
