Hello,
I would like to compile samba-latest on an old Linux system (SuSE 7.2).
Everything seems to run quite well until it comes to the vfs-modules:

compile errors samba 3.0.7 vfs
Hi all,
sorry for the long posting.
Samba 2.2.x is outdated. Trying to switch to 3.0.7 with no success. The
vfs layer is one of my current problems. Googled some time for an
solution for this:

Anonymous printing with User-level security
Can I set up anonymous (unauthenticated) printing on a samba server that is
also hosting user-level security? I have looked through FAQs and sample
setups and don't see it, but I figured I would ask.
Thanks in advance,

compile samba v3.0.9 vfs-errors
Hello NG,
found a thread with almost my current problem. There wasn't any solution
out there.
Maybe anything has changed?
I want install samba v3.0.9 on an old rh linux v7.1. Currently there's no
chance to
update the core system. But while compiling it breaks with many

Compile errors and warnings with samba-3.0.14a
Hello folks,
While compiling samba I get a lot of warnings and errors which I don't know
how to handle. I've been searching the internet and I found several notes
from other people having the same errors/warnings, but never found a
solution. In fact there was no response at all to these cries for help.
Hopefully somebody will react to my cry...
Can somebody give me a clue of what

recycle: ... returned No such file or directory
Hi,
recently I see lots of logs like this. I figured, that many have umlaute
in their name - but not all. My local FS displays the umlaute correctly
- but it is not displayed correctly in the logfiles.
Also, when I browse through shares via Windows or MacOSx all files with
umlaute seem to be displayed correctly.

vfs_recycle disables permissions inheritance on AD DC shares
Apologies if this is a documented feature and I missed it - I've been
googling and reading through the docs but haven't spotted any mention
anywhere. Is the vfs_recycle feature officially being supported with
Samba in AD mode? I have a few AD DC's with file shares on them - and
have been struggling with file permissions not being inherited on the
file shares. I have finally

2x Samba4 Bugs - "mount error(5): Input/output error" & "recycle: stat for ... AFP_AfpInfo returned No such file or directory"
Hi
I'm using Samba version 4.1.7 on the server side. On the Client side is
multiple versions
- a copy machine Konica Minolta
- Windows XP
- Windows 7
- Mac OSx (Mavericks)
- CentOS (XenServer)
all of them get sporadic input output errors. E.g: on a Linux I would get a
mount error(5): Input/output error
after the first try. And as funny as it sounds, but the second try is a

vfs_recycle and permissions
Hi,
at our site we are using Samba 4.1.8 as an AD controller and on
another machine as member server and all is working fine so far. Now I
want to provide recycle repositories for some shares on the member
server, so I set
vfs objects = acl_xattr recycle
recycle:keeptree = yes
in the corresponding share sections in smb.conf on the member server.
The problem is that the subdirectories created in

vfs_recycle on samba 4.3.9 as DC reset permissions
Hi,
I set up an Ubuntu 16.04 machine with samba 4.3.9 as DC.
Everything works fine. I created users and groups with the Windows RSAT
tools.
I also set different group permissions on some shares over Windows.
My Problem is now that I tried to enable the samba recycle bin:
[mytest]
path = /data/samba/mytest
read only = No

I: Segfault in Samba
I reveived this message as panic action, of my debian Unstable (Samba 3.0).
Don't look for any solution, as the service is just reloaded, but I hape
that can be useful for debugging.

lots of outdated docs
Hi,
The web page https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/ must be from the last
millenium, it offers a "tarball of the daily docs build" of version 3.3
The manpage for vfs_recycle is even worse, it says:
"This man page is correct for version 3.0.25 of the Samba suite."
Is there a chance that we can get man pages which describe all options
of samba 4.2?
Specifically I was looking

vfs_recycle permission bug?!
Hai Marco,
Can you check this acl and attr are these installed?
type acl
type attr
Or just run : apt-get install -y acl attr
Try this :
chmod 1770 /srv/work/.cestino/
Which sets : "creator Owner" (1), Owner (7), Group (7), World (0)
So the owner and groups can create anything but your enforcing "creator owner"
Then set:
recycle:subdir_mode = 1700
