[Resolved] Found a way of allowing pam_ldap users (with pam_groupdn or pam_check_host_attr restrictions), AND allowing local root authentication, without pam_unix.so taking presense due to getpwent() returns ldap-users
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I've been trying to get LDAP ssh authentication to work for a while, and I found a bug (http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=bin/116150) in pam_unix.so, that breaks support for ldap-group/host-restrictions the ldap-way. I saw numerous emails about pam_groupdn-ldap-restrictions on the mailinglists dating back to 2001, but no resolution

pam_ldap-184 compile error
I tried to compile pam_ldap-184 but it gave lots of error msgs. BTW, I have successfully compiled nss_ldap-255. For pam_ldap, my configure looks like: ./configure --with-ldap-lib=openldap --with-ldap-dir=/usr/local --with-ldap-conf-file=/usr/local/etc/openldap/ldap.conf and the following is the configure output --- start of configure output --- creating cache ./config.cache checking host system

authenticate using pam_ldap.so
Hi All, I've been trying for quite some time now, but feel that there's just that one situation that doesn't work, and that's probably the one thing I'd like to use. I've got a simple samba server (3.0.23c) on RHEL5 that only has one large share. That share is to be used by a certain number of users, that can exchange large amounts of data using that share, but not

dovecot-auth hangs with IO leak
Hi dovecot, I am using the debian dovecot packages on a system running LDAP. My /etc/pam.d/common-* looks like this, which simply means try /etc/passwd first, and try LDAP using the same password if it is failed. account [success=1 default=ignore] pam_unix.so account required pam_ldap.so use_first_pass account required pam_permit.so auth [success=1 default=ignore] pam_unix.so auth

Configuring RHEL6 Samba4 DC for local accounts
I've configured a new RHEL DC with sernet samba 4.1.4 and a domain just upgraded from classic with an LDAP backend. I need to configure the DC with user accounts and since: * I can't use winbind on a DC * I can't use SSSD with the sernet packages it looks like the best thing to use is LDAP. I've configured it with: authconfig --enableldap --enableldapauth

Samba with LDAP - conflict with pam_ldap?
Hi, I'm using Samba 2.2.4 with LDAP support (OpenLDAP 2.0.23), and with pam_ldap included in the rpm nss_ldap 1.86 from Redhat (I'm on Linux Redhat 7.2). All these things are working well (I use the same object SambaAcount under PosixAccount in order to authenticate all these things), but a problem appears when I'm trying to list all the accounts and groups from my Win2000

Dovecot hanging up with many defunct processes
Hi, I am in a very awkward situation and need some kind of immediate fix up. I had installed dovecot in my organization as part of migration of email server. The setup involves sendmail, dovecot (imaps+pop3s) and webmail (squirrelmail) running on apache webserver. All was working fine until one day I found a lot of defunct processes on system related to dovecot. dovecot-auth, imap-login and

Hi, I'm using dovecot 1.1.3 on FreeBSD 6.3, x86, files are on NFS, except control and index files, which are local, on UFS2. It's moderately loaded, there are usually not more than 30 clients simultaneously. dovecot runs fine for 3-10 days, then people can't connect any more, and dovecot says: Nov 18 13:20:44 dizzy dovecot-auth: pam_ldap: ldap_simple_bind Can't contact LDAP

Samba 3 + LDAP on SuSE - how (missing /etc/pam.d/system-auth)
Hello, I'm trying to configure Samba to work with SuSE 9.1. I followed The Linux Samba-OpenLDAP Howto (Revision: 1.6 ) from http://samba.idealx.org/smbldap-howto.en.html - but I'm stuck - in SuSE there is no /etc/pam.d/system-auth. Should I just add this file (I doubt it), or put these values into another files (which ones)? auth required /lib/security/pam_env.so auth

"You are not allowed to log in interactively"
"You are not allowed to log in interactively" - or words to that effect. (It's in Swedih originally) I have added a new user - useradd and smbpasswd -a but he is not allowed to log on the domain from a W2k-server. Other users can though. I have examined everything - i think - but apparently not what causes this. Any ideas out there? Thanks, Hans
