Setting up Point 'n' Print
I am having some problems with uploading printer drivers. I follow the
procedures as outlined in both TOSHARG and Samba-3 by Example, and I use the
Add Printer Drivers Wizard to upload the drivers. It looks OK, and the
drivers make into the \\server\print$\W32X86\3 directory. But when I click
okay, I get "Printer settings could not be saved. Access is denied." This
happens when

In-memory databases vs PHP Bindings
I can't quite connect the dots on this, perhaps someone can help. I'm
simply trying to create an in-memory database comprising a single document,
so that I can run a load of queries against it and see if any of them match
the new document (this is to enable users to have 'subscriptions' to saved
searches and be alerted every time a new item is published that matches

Rails theory question, where to put a join query
The is something I wrestle with a bit when I construct joined queries..
Perhaps some experienced insight will straighten this out for me.
Say you have two tables with two models, ''authors'' and ''posts''.
an author has_many posts, a post has_one author.
You need methods to do the following queries:
find_author(postid)
find_posts(authorid)
And you are doing a

WINS across two networks and a router
Hello, everybody. This one''s got me stumped. What I''m trying to do is have
two networks--192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0--with SMB and WINS running between
them. So far I can mount SMB shares allright, but I can''t browse by WINS
names across the router. I''ve posted this question on Linuxquestions.org;
you''ll find the details there.

Easier OggDrop version
Hi.
I think that the vorbis team should use this version of OggDrop RC3 as the
official OggDrop RC3, because the menu interface is easier to use (& you can
see what kind of mode you have chosen).

Vista (pre-installed OEM editions) creating new files or folders on network shares
Hi,
This post is to prevent other people that are having trouble with Vista
clients from going down a blind alley investigating problems in their samba
configurations.
After some research I have found (see link below) that there is a general
problem for pre-installed OEM editions of Vista Business (and possibly other
vista versions) in creating files and folders on network shares.
The problem

FAILED with error NT_STATUS_PASSWORD_MUST_CHANGE
Hi there,
I'm working on a new print server to replace one that's pretty long in
the tooth.
I'm using standard packages from Ubuntu Hardy Heron which appears to be
Samba 3.0.28a. We use LDAP for the authentication backend. I seem to
have that configured properly as I get a ldap_connect_system: succesful
connection to the LDAP server in the log but every login fails with:

Samba 3 by Example - chapter 5 & 6 ( Manager -> sambaadmin)
Dear Samba & Users.
I have spent some time going over the documentation, however I still no not
fully understand what the cause is.
I am focusing on Samba 3 by Example chapter 5 & 6 specifically

Comparing two hashes
Ok, I''m trying to do an implementation of a blog client using rails.
I''m using a nice pre-built ruby module called "blog/client" - http://
raa.ruby-lang.org/project/blogclient/ - which has some nice methods
that wrap up XMLRPC/client calls and make the manipulation of structs
transparent to the main application.
My next task is to try and fetch the list of

Rails & IIS
There are several sites I''ve found on the web detailing how to setup
IIS with Rails. Unfortunately they all seem to be woefully out of
date. I believe they may all even be pre Rails 1.0.
Can single sign on via Active Directory Services be accomplished
through mod_NTLM for Apache, so users won''t have ot log into the
intranet site after already having logged into their machine?

Xen EOF?
Hi,
just found:
PSARC/2010/250 EOF of Solaris xVM dom0 approved.
So does this mean, Xen is officially dead on Solaris?
Regards,
jel.

Saving "admins" from themselves
Hi,
We recently had a customer that set up Asterisk with port 5038 open to the
world with standard configs for the AMI (by that I mean they copied and
pasted configs that they saw online). Digging around a bit it seems the
attacker used the AMI action "pjsip show auths" followed by "pjsip show
auth <peer name>" which got them the credentials to their account. I know

FIML with missing data in sem package
Is there a way to use full information maximum likelihood (FIML) to
estimate missing data in the sem package? For example, suppose I have a
dataset with complete information on X1-X3, but missing data (MAR) on X4.
Is there a way to use FIML in this case? I know lavaan and openmx allow you
to do it, but I couldn't find anything in the documentation for the sem
package. Thanks!

Two Interface Setup + router problems II
Hey all, A while ago today I posted about not being able to get my two
interface setup working with a router (di 652 wireless/wired). I
recieved help from Tom and got everything in the router turned off and
set it up as a switch rather then a rouiter, this still never
corrected my problems. Use tcpdump I see there is alot of traffic, but
as soon as I dhcpcd eth1 (local) I loose all outside access

First off, I''d like to address that I''m n00bs.
I''ve read the README and blogs associated with this plugin, and there
really isn''t too much documentation. I have the newest version of

Vyatta ISO in DomU
A friend of mine recommended checking out the Vyatta project. I was
reviewing their website and saw endorsements of their product running on
both Vmware and Xen. In fact, they have a Vmware virtual image and a beta
XenServer image.
However, I am running a typical Debian Lenny 64 DomU installed through the
repositories. According to their installation documents, it states that
the ISO can be

[LLVMdev] invoke/unwind
I put invoke/unwind aside because I couldn't get them to work, but I'm
working on my evaluator now and it would be nice to figure this out so I
don't have to unwind the stack manually. This was the reason for my
earlier question about global declarations, and as that's cleared up I
can easily pass exception data...if I can make unwind return out of some
deep recursion.

Javascript Confirm for Form Value
How could I ask a user to confirm specific form input?
EX:
<%= f.submit ''Donate'', :confirm => ''Confirm your donation amount:
###amount###'' %>
Where the ###amount### would be replaced with the amount entered in
the form.
Thanks,
Dustin
