ldap smbpasswd UH???
I can't really guess the point of your intelligent answer from this. If I have to assume you're surprised, I guess I am too. The cn exists in ldap, with all the attributes that I imported from other databases, the message given by smbpasswd suggests that it either tried to create an entry or update it with sambaaccount attributes ( which it didn't ), neither of which are the expected

Samba PDC (3.0.14a) with LDAP cannot add machines
Hi, I am setting up a Samba PDC which uses LDAP for account information. It is a debian installation with samba 3.0.14a and slapd 2.2.23 (I'm also using ldap-account-manager, but I don't think that has anything to do with this). I have checked the release notes whether it might have been fixed in a new release, but there's nothing I recognize that seems related to this. The

Samba 3.0.23c PANIC during registering computer into domain
Hello, Recently I've had a chance to test samba 3.0.23c on debian etch (unstable) with LDAP as PDC. I found two problems, however I'd like to describe the second one: 1) I added users to LDAP so I could connect and I was able to authorize myself in samba via LDAP 2) I added my computer to LDAP but didn't check the SambaSID for my machine - in fact it was different than sambaSID

smbd and pdbedit segfault
Greetings! I've got a Debian server running Samba that has a rather odd problem I was hoping someone out there could help with. Whenever a particular user is referenced, either in in smbd or pdbedit, a segfault or security context stack overflow is generated. Here is what I have tried to fix the problem: Used tdbbackup on all the *.tdb files I could find and replaced the current ones

smbpasswd not attempting to use LDAP
I've only got LDAP configured as a passdb type in my smb.conf, but samba appears to be completely ignoring that and creating an /etc/samba/smbpass file (full output of that at the bottom) my smb.conf has: ldap admin dn = "cn=Admin,dc=byramhealthcare,dc=com" ldap ssl = off passdb backend ldapsam:ldap://ldapmaster.byramhealthcare.com ldap delete dn = no ldap user suffix =

LDAP: strange "net groupmap" behaviour
Dear Sirs, I did the following command (against ldapsam backend): net groupmap add rid=3002 unixgroup=wheel type=local ntgroup=Marketoids comment=Mm -d 10 I just wanted to add new group. But instead of that I saw many-many-many records: lib/smbldap.c:smbldap_search(963) passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldapsam_getgroup(2008) they all wanted to find group with gidNumber=4294967295, yes, sure, there's

LDAP smbpasswd help needed
Hopefully, you can help me out. I'm trying to figure out why I'm getting the error I get. From the debug output, it looks like it's adding the objectClass to the user (so they can get the sambaSID attribute attached to them), but it's not actually happening. The schema is, obviously, in the LDAP server in question. Any thoughts? D # smbpasswd -D 99 -a testuser Netbios name

Upgrade from 2.2.8 to 3; users lack SIDs
I recently have upgraded from Samba 2.2.8 to 3.0.7. I am using LDAP as a backend, but I'm running into a problem. Namely, since my user entries have no sambaSID attribute, Samba decides they don't exist. (At least, that's how it looks in the logs, included below.) I've looked through the conversion script that's included with Samba 3, but it just uses the rid attribute,

pdbedit and tdbsam
I'm having trouble using pdbedit to add user to a tdbsam database. I'm running Redhat Enterprise Linux ES 3.0, with the stock version of samba. I'm not sure why it won't let me add users. I tried it with smbpasswd and that didn't work either. Anyway here's a plethora of information: [root@samba root]# pdbedit -a -u root -d 10 INFO: Current debug levels: all: True/10

Creating and renaming mbox folders on NFS auto-installed partitions
I'm trying dovecot-0.99.9.1 in place of uw-imap which ground to a halt on a 500MHz SunBlade 100 Solaris 8 system which acts as our Departmental mail server. INBOXes are mbox files on the servers's local SCSI disk. But user directories are auto mounted from other Sun NFS servers and these may contain other mbox mailboxes in a ~/Mail directory. There's a problem with creating (and with
