I am continuing to work with samba on FC3 for use as a file server etc.

Finding the GID of AD groups on samba
Hi Folks:
A couple weeks ago, the list helped me develop the way to find the UID
of users on my AD system. At the time I did not think that it would be
necessary to know the GID of the AD Groups, but I am hitting some snags
where I need to change the group ownership of folders etc.
I suspect that the necessary command is a variant of the getent command,
but man getent has not yielded where I

security = ads parameter not working in samba 4.9.5
Lets start by removing this: krb5-server-1.15.1-37.el7_7.2.x86_64
And if it is installed on the DCs remove it from them as well.
Not sure if I asked this, but where did you get the Samba packages from ?
Can I also point out, when I ask for the output of the script in a post
here, I mean here, not somewhere on the internet that can and will
disappear. If needed, I can then review the output

Samba Domain authentication and shares
Hello,
I have been able to use Samba to join our Win2003 domain. I have also
setup folders and permissions in the smb.conf file. I can browser to the
Samba Shares 2 ways, thru network neighborhood and by UNC/ip address.
Both of these methods prompt me for login which is not successful. I
assumed that if I userA had permissions to a folder in the smb.conf file
that Windows userA would e able to

Finding the UID of samba users
Hi Folks:
I am in the process of moving all of our users over to our new Samba
File server which runs FC3.
In order to properly secure the home folders, I need to chown them to
the UID of the individual user, and chgrp them to the domain users
group. I know the GID for the domain users, so no problem there. Is
there a way to find a list of the UID for all the users.
I know that I can do it

Help with authenticating against Active Directory.
Hello all,
I'm trying to authenticate shell login's against an MS-ADS. I don't
have admin access to the ADS, but I can talk to the admins.
I have gotten as far as getting authentication working, but the uid's
depend on the order of login. ie: the first guy to login gets 10000,
the next gets 10001, etc. The problem I have with this is that I want
to share the home

kernel error smb_errno: class ERRSRV, code 91 from command 0x32
Hi,
I have a samba +ldap PDC running on mandrake 10.0 the server is running
great except for the error mesage in the kernel log, whic I think causes the
system to crash after some time, how much time is needed is unknown, but it
seems to get faster with increasing user, as this was a first attempt I
first tried it with only less than 10 users, and it the server would go on
for more than 3

wbinfo_group.pl / wbinfo -r not working!
Hello,
I have been using samba to authenticate my squid users to Active
Directory. Because of the amount of users, I would like to set up my
ACL's based on groups, rather than individual user accounts.
I have successfully joined my samba box to our windows domain (2k).
For some reason I had to enter the domain controller name instead of
the domain name when doing so. I am now having issues

New PTR records not visible
Ok, we might have found something here.
I created a small script, see below, easy to adapt.
So, after running this i see the same problem as in :
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14268
If i do it manualy everything works fine.
But if i "past the commands or run the script"
Then i see this problem..
So im thinking here, the speed of adding is creating somekind or

Bug 1465523 - smbd killed by SIGABRT daily
ok, start with :
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns myhostname
change that to
hosts: files dns myhostname mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return]
( optional you can test also, hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=continue] dns myhostname)
remove the create and directory mask.
Now test again.
Do you jave shares over nfs? or any other thing you can share about
