Does anyone know how to setup the smb.conf file for the my document folder redirection in windows. If I point it to a root share, with a Microsoft file server, it will automatically create a folder for each user with a my documents folder under that. How can I get that to happen with a samba share. Using Debian Etch and Samba 3.0.24 and fairly new to samba. The default smb.conf makes mention

They can join the domain suplied by samba, and all the users can log on to their domain but, the roaming profiles just won't work. Hi, I have set up a Samba 2.2.8 server and I would like store Windows 2000 Profiles on the Samba server. For a test I set the File Permissions for all users on samba but the Windows 2000 PDC did'nt create any file of a profile. Trying to get acces from the PDC on Samba works withtout problems. I've been reading about policies and the documentation says to grab poledit.exe from the NT SP6a file. There are many policy settings that are not available via this tool. Isn't there something newer that could be used to create the .pol file needed by samba to implement policies? Or will this only be available with samba4?

Hi, I have been trying to use samba for a while as a way to have an identical desktop/startmenu/profile/favourites/etc on multiple PCs. Samba is setup as the PDC and I can join the domain and login. The problems started firstly when I wanted to have some sort of caching and also logon concurrently to different pcs with the same user. The main problem being that whichever computer I log off

Has anyone looked in to domain policy for Win2K/XP machines from a SAMBA controlled domain? I have played around with these policies from within a Win2K AD-domain, and wondered if I can carry my policies over to a SAMBA domain.
