Understaning log file response times
Hi everyone,
I''m trying to understand where my application spends time while being
generated. In the log file I see entries such as:
Completed in 368ms (View: 32, DB: 1) | 200 OK
[http://www.sitename.com/].
Since everything is cached, the view and DB time are very small. My
question is can I assume the rest of the time is spent in the
controller? Is there a way to dig deeper into the data

Samba + BIND9 DLZ. DNS dosen't resolve FQDN, only short hostname
Hm,
I thought this to be the very TLD that is specifically assigned for
local networks with no plans to become Internet-wide. What is the
recommended TLD for such networks then?

Routing issue - Revisited
A number of weeks ago I had huge help from many of you configuring routing

help!!!!
I am still having a routing issue that I am hoping someone can help me

LDAP: PDC to BDC replication issues
Harry,
Thank you.
Unfortunately we don't have the choice of upgrading LDAP due to distro not supporting the newer version. However we have managed to get it to work. A lot of fiddling around.
I do have another question though ;). Now that we have LDAP replicating, how do I transfer the "samba classic " PDC role to our BDC. I have read that using the domain master=yes in smb.conf

bind-dns Folder Missing for Samba4 Setup in Ubuntu
I am trying to setup samba to use the bind9 backend, but a folder is
missing in Samba, according to the WIKI page. This seems to be consistent,
as there are several files and folders that are not where they should be,
according to the wiki:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End
That page says there should be a folder at /usr/local/samba/bind-dns, but
it's not there. I've

nsd serving localhost
Hi,
I just installed nsd 1.2.2, and found that it choked on the following
zone file when parsing it as an IPv6 zone file, complaining about
out-of-zone data on line 2:
@ IN SOA ns.oryx.com. hostmaster.oryx.com. (
2003091600 10800 3600 2592000 86400 )

Using it only under IPv4 worked. What I'm now using is

I haven't read through all of this, but is this a CentOS 7 machine? If so .. I believe that systemd has some name resolution facility in it. Has that been looked into?

About BDC
Hi list,
First let me give something about my network
structure
192.168.4.0-->192.168.4.3(BDC)
|
VPN GATEWAY
|
Internet
|
VPN
GATEWAY
|
192.168.5.0-->192.168.5.3 (PDC)
Right now I'm having
192.168.5.3(SAMBA+LDAP PDC) and WINS server, and I want to build a BDC
(192.168.4.3) on the other side of the VPN.
my questions are:
1. is it
possible?
2. is BDC needs to be setup as a WINS server

hosts: files dns
That should be it. Putting dns first works if you can guarentee that
DNS works fine all the time but if your DNS caches that localhost
doesn't exist then /etc/hosts

matchname messages filling logs - howto stop?
Listmates,
I have had a few boxes where the 'matchname' message is filling my syslog with
one new message ever ~40 seconds or so. No performance problems, just the log
annoyance. An example of the messages are:
