Samba 3.0.10 - Invalid Value!!!
I have a Macintosh Xserve running OS 10.4.8 and it's running Samba 3.0.10. Everytime a Windows XP workstation logs off the Macintosh Xserve server, the following shows up in the log.smbd (located at var/log/samba): [2007/01/11 14:24:17, 0] pdb_ods.c:make_a_mod(2045) make_a_mod: INVALID VALUE!!! INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 10 in pid 7448 (3.0.0rc2)
This morning I got two users come down to me saying their word doc was lost. Apparently they tried to save their docs to their home folder which is on samba share. XP had given an error along the lines 'Network connection to network drive is lost and word is unable to save the document' and then Word crashed. I went to smb logs and found this. Problems adding Win clients to domain
I'm not able to add Win clients to my domain anymore. I receive an error on the PC (2000 or XP): "The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "[DOMAIN]": Logon failure: unknown user name or password." But I am able to log on to the server when accessing shares and printers. This error message only appears when joining the domain. And on the Mac OS X

Security risk to adding users to "Domain Admin" group
Hi everyone. Could anyone tell me what would be the repercussion of adding all users to "Domain Admins" in a samba environment. The reason I am asking is because we are getting a picker object error when trying to add "Domain Users" to the Local Administrator group. Domain Admin gets added ok during join. Thanks. -- Dominique

Greetings I am running SMB on OS X Server 10.5.6, it's not clear what version of SMB they use. I have a Windows XP box that mounts a network drive on the server. RE: Bug 1315 -- wrong schannel auth len 24 -- am I having same problem on my Mac?
Can someone verify that I am having the same problem with Mac OS X Panther (10.3.3) using Samba 3.0.2 based on my log below? I get this trying to connect from my WinXP machine to my Mac which is configured with ADS. If so, can you point me to a set of instructions on upgrading from 3.0.2 to 3.0.4 with this patch? I don't have control over the server I authenticate with...it is about 300

Strange changes to a Word document
Dear Andrew Tridgell A strange thing happened last night. I was working on a Word document. I scrolled up to the top of the document, and the first section had been replaced by the following text, all formatted exactly as I had set it: Copyright Andrew Tridgell and the Samba Team 1992-2004 [2005/02/21 23:50:25, 0] /SourceCache/samba/samba-59/samba/source/smbd/server.c:main(757) smbd version

nmbd Hogging CPU on Mac OSX (10.5.4)
Hi All, Firstly, I know this is a MacOS X issue and not sure if you guys can help, but I'm really hoping you can since I don't appear to be getting any joy elsewhere. Running OSX 10.5.4 and recently (last week) nmbd is hogging the CPU. I know this is a part of the Samba server on OSX, hence the post to this mail-list. When I disconnect from the network, nmbd goes away and doesn't

security = domain and Mac OS X
I've set up Samba on Mac OS X to do pass through authentication to the nt domain in AD several times now. No big deal, it usually just works. Now, however, it doesn't appear to be working. Note the relevant part of the transaction below (loglevel 4). Steps to replicate: a) Add pre-Win2K account with AD Users and computers b) sudo smbpasswd -j EXAMPLE -r WINSERVER -U

OS X Hang Issue
Hello List, I have a bit of a strange problem with an OS 10.3.3 XServe (Samba 3.0.2) that I've inherited from a previous sysadmin ;). It's a bit hard to describe but I'll do my best and include applicable log files and the smb.conf. Ok, first of all this machine is bound to our Active Directory domain and authenticates users there (security = ads). It uses the Windows 2000 DC

Hello, I try Samba on MAC OS X 10.2 System. The SAMBA's version is 2.2.3a. I began tests with SAMBA as PDC (that the aim) but as it did not work , i canceled this, and changed the configuration to simplify the problem (the error messages are the same) When i use this command from the server (terminal) smbclient -L jobs -U pbe added interface ip=193.50.232.11

Unable to mount SMB shares under Mac OS 10.6.5
Help - (I'm new to the list, so please be gentle) I've tried Seagate support, and Apple Forums with no resolution or adequate suggestions for troubleshooting/resolving this issue, so I thought I'd try the samba community. It's a bit esoteric for me/most Mac users (SMB shares under Max OS X), but I thought I'd give it a try. I can no longer mount any shares from my Seagate

Issues with Samba 3.0.2 on OSX using ADS.
We have a Win2K network at work and I've been trying to integrate my Mac 10.3 machine into the network. It seems that once one thing is working, something else is not. I have read through various Mac tutorials found on the web but none seem to solve my problem. Right now I have Active Directory Domain Logons working successfully but Samba will not allow anyone (from Mac/Unix/Windows) to

Weird "Share violation"
Hi all! I've got an OS X Server (10.3.7) running the built-in version of Samba (3 something). I've got one sharepoint set up ("Apps") with 2 DOS applications in it. One is an old DOS version of Q&A (4, if it really matters). The other is a custom application that is text based. (.bat files, for the most part. A couple of complied pieces done in Turbo Basic.) All

Installing windows drivers into print$ on OS X 10.5 Leopard
Has anyone had any success installing windows printer drivers onto a leopard-hosted print$ share? If I use the Add Printer Wizard method, if copies the driver files to \ \SERVER\print$\W32X86 then fails with an "Operation cannot be completed." If I use the rpcclient method I get a WERR_INVALID_PARAM error. Using the Adobe Generic PostScript driver as an example.
