Can not connect to share "NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME"
I have Suse 9.1 + Samba 3.0.9 + winbind joined to a Windows 2000 AD domain "MyCompany". Yesterday for some unknown reason (appears to be Win2K issue) connections to Samba and the ability to browse the domain "MyCompany" from Win2K/XP workstations failed but connections to the public share offered by the Win2K server were OK. Also, all Win98 workstations and were unable to

Resolve Domain
Dear list, Samba allows our school to use on non-free operation systems on work stations. Or should I rather put it this way: In combination with Debian-Edu, Samba allows us to use free operations systems on servers and work stations despite the fact that some colleagues stick to Windows... Now, we observe a problem that still needs to be examined further on: If the server has been running

samba3 and kerberos authentication of users
Hi all, this is probably VFAQ, but I never found a working solution. I have a standalone samba server running samba ver. 3. In the network, we have heimdal kerberos used to authenticate users for pop3,imap,web-based applications etc. Now I would like to make the samba communicating with kerberos kdc so there will no longer be users in smbpasswd with separate passwords outside of kerberos. read only share access after upgrade to 3.0.10
Hello Samba gurus. I'm in upgrade hell after upgrading my backup rh9 server and fc2 linux box to 3.0.10 from 3.0.7. rh9 rpm package was from the samba site and the fc2 rpms from redhat. I now have a system where the win xp and win98se machines on the network can read/write to the backup share but my fc2 box only has read only access to the share - it could write before the upgrade. I tried

Adding a cups printer driver
Hello, I have desperately tried to make samba able to share the printer with a Win98SE client. First I tried cupsaddsmb, but that failed. Then I walked step by step through the installation manually as explained in the documentation, and everything stopped on this point: rpcclient -Uroot%xxxx -c 'adddriver "Windows NT x86"\

smbclient recursive get skips files (rarely)
We seem to have stumbled onto an intermittant bug using smbclient to retrieve files from a W2000 server. Every so often it just ignores some files on a recursive mget. When it ignores files it always ignores the same files. The exact same command repeated again may (or may not) pick up that file. Running a DIR on the directory in question shows the same defect, sometimes the cursed file is

I have been trying for 3 weeks to get 3.0.21b to work on AIX 5.2. I am currently running 3.0.4, which has no problems. I am getting very frustrated, and am about to give up entirely on Samba. Here are some of the errors I am getting: [<root> mcom4:/opt/Samba/3.0.21b/bin] > ./smbclient -L ccasemcom4 -d 3 -N -Ub06reg%Becky1208 lp_load: refreshing parameters Initialising global

Unable to set ACLs with Samba 3.0.11, near publication deadline
Hello, Jeremy and Jerry, I met both of you at LinuxWorld in Boston, where I learned tons and tons of great stuff from your presentations. I'm writing on deadline for publication and would really, really, really like to show off Samba's ability to map NT ACLs to POSIX ACLs. But right now, I can't make them work. I've spent some time on the Samba list trying to make this work, but

Can't connect from Windows
I am setting up my first 3.0.1 installation. I am using Slackware 9.1, I am trying to connect to a Windows 2000 Server. I do not need active directory support (as far as I know). The server's function is a file server. So Users need seamless authentication... of course. I do not have LDAP installed. It's a plain server besides the 3ware RAID. I compiled and installed samba 3.0.1,
