Jobs stay in WinXP-Printer-Queue, never processed by CUPS
Hi! I've shared a CUPS Printer via Samba, Samba is connected to a Win2003 SP1 Domain to authenticate users. Most of the time all works nice, but sometimes there are errors. For example it seems that a WinXP client can't deliver the print-jobs to samba/cups anymore. The jobs just stay in die windows Printer queue. log.smdb: [2007/04/03 11:13:34, 2]

Performance and disconnect troubles on winbind after samba upgrade
Hello, We have a RHEL4 x64 running for 3 years, which is a samba member server integrated with a AD domain without any problems (we was using samba-3.0.10-1.4E.6). Last Saturday we performed an entire server update, applying all RHN available patches. Everything is running fine, except for winbind service which has a strange behavior: often we are receiving some errors at logs, and the

Join fails with 'SPNEGO login failed: invalid parameter'
Hi, I am running Samba 3.2.4 on a Solaris 10 SPARC machine. The config is pretty simple (see below). Security is set to 'domain'. The PDC and BDC are running 3.0.30 without problems. When joining the machine to the domain with 'net rpc join', it fails with: Could not connect to server 130.37.79.2 Connection failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER when running the net command

Problems with Winbind and Squid NTLM authentications
Hello, I'm using Squid with NTLM authentication. I use perl script (wbinfo_group.pl) for the user authentication in a Win 2K ADS as an external ACL in Squid. This scheme worked very well for long time, but recently my users had often problem in the Internet browsing: browser ask for the credential even if the NTLM is enabled, and nobody browse till I reboot the proxy server. I check the

Winbindd and idletimeout on the LDAP server
Hi We have a problem with samba (winbind) when we enable idletimeout on the OpenLDAP servers. If it is set we sometimes get an error: mhansen@scenic32:~> smbclient -Umhansen //cups/p6 Password: session setup failed: NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT The log entries (log.wb-DOMAIN)on the DOMAIN MEMBER server (cups in this case) are: [2006/11/20 14:24:07, 0] rpc_client/cli_pipe.c:rpc_api_pipe(790)

Intermitent winbind failure resolving groups via nss
Hi all, I have 2 Linux machines running winbind attached to a Windows 2003 server in AD mode to resolve users and groups via nss (nscd is disabled for passwd and group info). In an intermittent way winbind stops resolving group names, for instance the 'id' command returns just the GID and no name for the primary user group and executables trying to resolve members of groups cannot

I messed up winbind....but what is wrong?
I had posted about winbind picking the wrong domain to this list about a week ago and this was the problem I was still trying to solve when I must have messed something else up. SO! Winbind WAS working (even though it was picking the wrong domain) I re-ran smbpasswd -j LMC -r <our PDC> -U administrator I get prompted for the password, enter it and I am told that I joined the LMC

Active Directory Integration Problems
Hello everyone, I have setup Samba 3.0.28a on an Ubuntu 8.04 server. The setup that I am working with is an exact copy (as far as I can tell) if an identical installation that I did on a test box. Kerberos is setup and working properly. I can use kinit to issue tickets. The box has been successfully joined to the Active Directory domain. I can enumerate AD users and groups. I can log

NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT
Samba occasionally fails with the following. I have seen many questions regarding this but no answers unfortunately. I am wondering what the setting is where I can increase this time out value of 10000 milliseconds in case that specific request is just slow. This is called many times a day and only just occasionally fails. I have looked through the entire manual for smb.conf and can't find a

Samba 3.0.22 error with domain accounts
I have compiled Samba 3.0.22 on Solaris 10 (sparc.) It has been configured as a PDC with a domain of, say, "SAMBADOMAIN." It has some predefined group mappings for the Administrators and "Domain Admins" group. These mappings were dropped in later versions of Samba. (I have been working with 3.0.24 as well. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to play nice with

Lost connection to network drive
Hi, I am using samba 2.2.5. My problem is with windows 2000, the mapped network drive share losses connection after a period of time, e.g. 30 minutes. You will see an "X" marked red in the mapped drive letters. I looked up microsoft's website for persistent connections problems but the suggestion is already set in my register keys.

Problem authenticating from standalone servers via Samba 3.0.34 domain member servers to Samba 3.2.5 domain controller
We recently upgraded our PDC from Debian 4 to Debian 5. That entailed an upgrade of Samba from 3.0.24 to 3.2.5. Since the upgrade we've had a very specific problem connecting to shares on a commercial NAS running Samba 3.0.34. The problem happens when users try to connect to shares from standalone servers--e.g., Windows XP Pro boxes that we use for testing. From those boxes users should be

Sometimes users can't connect to the samba shares
Hello, Hope you can help us out with a problem with samba / winbind; We have samba 3.0.21c with winbind running on an RHEL 4 server. This runs quite stable for more than a year now. But since the lasts weeks it appears that sometimes our users can't connect to the samba shares. I suspect that this problem has something to do with the integration of samba (winbind) with the Microsoft

winbind on Solaris 2.5.1 not working.
Ok folks, Here is the deal. I have posted to the news groups several times and gotten not a single thing. I have been trying since march to get 2.2.8a working on sol2.5.1 with winbind to do the authentication but it has failed miserably. Winbindd starts but fails to create the /tmp/.winbindd/pipe file and bombs like a daisycutter. But if I run winbindd like this " truss -aefo /tmp/file
