Can't get 'root preexec' to run
Hai, i'll try to explain so here.. When you use ADUC console. This is what happens. ( for Profile tab in ADUC ) The ADUC user creates the user network dir, but only what you set the Drive letter: (connected with) \\servername.domain.tld\users\%username% If you set the local pad, its not created. This folder is created at the moment you clik OK, or Apply. For the profil folder, this

Post 3.0.9 Win9X Domain Logon Problems
Hi all, We have Samba 3 up to and including 3.0.9 working fine using LDAP for the backend. XP and 9X logons work fine. On upgrading to newer versions (inc. 3.0.11, 3.0.14a and tried 3.0.20), in the same configuration, 9X logons stop working properly - they authenticate, but fail to get information such as groups and user's full name. XP still works fine. We use KIX for our logon

Problem with web services
Jo se Have you properly configured the *web server* (Lighttpd, Apache, etc.) on the Ubuntu server ?. Does that *web server* serve properly an index.html page ?. Try to serve a simple html page like: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv='Content-Type' content='text/html; charset=utf-8' /> <title>kultur01</title> </head>

webroot. On Windows and Centos that's easy as that's just ONE directory. On Debian and it's ancestors, Ubuntu being one of them, there are TWO directories and he put the files in the wrong one of both and doesn't symlink them from the right one. I tried to explain this to him on IRC and I summarized this here on the mailing list. I'd suggest anyone with web serving related

Windows ACL clarification for Roaming Profiles share
Hello Marc, First of all. https://abhijitw.wordpress.com/2012/03/03/the-local-system-account/ is really outdated. The Explanation is simply incomplete. Yes, localy there is SYSTEM. But due to some i think sid/rid whatever wrong mapping its not working correctly in samba when you use GPO settings also. Per example. And its the last time im telling it. I beleave that, somewhere somehow, the

Hai Rowland, This happens when im creating a "Scheduled task" , this task needs NT AUTHORITY\System but you need to select the account, when you select the account a sid/rid mapping is done and this fails. Resulting in the windows event id and error code. While searching for that i found that i cant type the username. You must select it. To reproduce. Create a GPO : Computer

HP DL585 - CentOS4.5 - kix woes
Hi Well we are now using HP instead of Dell and have hit a major hurdle. We dont seem to be able to kix any of these boxes. I have been most recently trying on a dl585 and the issue appears to be that the kix kernel does not detect any nic. Its strange as the box can be installed using iso's and the nic appears as eth0: Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5706 1000Base-T (A2) PCI-X 64-bit 100MHz

Win9x via Kix unable to get extended user attributes
Hi all, In trying to upgrade Samba here, I have built various versions from 3.0.11 to 3.0.14a using various versions of gcc and the Sun compiler (this is on Solaris SPARC) and had the following problem in all cases. Running the built samba as a logon server, I find that WinXP clients work fine but Win9X clients have some difficulties. The problem is that the Win9X logon script can't

Just to be clear about this, serving files is a dependency functionality for us. We need it to e.g. serve the graphics and CSS files for the status interface. But it's not in any way optimized code and we don't offer any

Jo se / Thomas Ok, I did not know about Icecast2 can also serve web pages, wow ... it is very powerful !! I do not have Ubuntu, but I experimented with Debian. I put in a Icecast2 server (server 1) an html page (x.html). In this web page I can play without problems a radio station that is hosted on another Icecast2 server (server 2), but I can only play a limited time (9:01) the radio station

you see, i have 3 icecast servers, one with windows, one with CentOS and this one with Ubuntu, in the other two the addition of one Online Radio Player wasn't a problem at all, i just add another .html page redirected from the main one and it work perfectly. But in the ubuntu one... well, the history is a little different, and that's why i send this mail. You see, what i'm trying to
