duplicate commands
Hi,
I just upgraded to CentOS 5.3 last night and see these duplicate
commands (migration/0, migration/1) when running top -c?
Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it to make only one command show
up?

a strange behavior on a small memory system with tun0
Hello
I am using openssh as vpn on a router with freewrt.org and rsync to sync my local data to a remote server.
Everything works fine for me so far.
The only problem is that the channel-1 (tun0) goes down on the router after 50-200MB transfered via tun0
or after 5-20 hours only with a ping to the server . Channel-0 is still working.
Tcpdump shows that a ping from the router to the server via

I am running centos 4.2 on a P4 3 GIG with 2 GIG ram.

Cleaning Up My Process Table
I'm upgrading my primary server from RH 7.2 to CentOS-4.3.ServerCD. I
REALLY like the ServerCD. Who needs all the fluff that comes with a
standard distro? If I want a system-config-gooey I can run Xnest [1]
and ssh -X from my laptop. Anyway I have two questions:
1) How can I collectively stop all the NFS, portmap, whatever? I'm hoping
it can be manipulated as a group because occationally

Running processes
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me why so many processes are started on
my system? Here is a list of them. I am trying to figure out why they are
running and if I can stop them. Thnx.

kjournald hang on ext3 to ext3 copy
All,
I am running into a situation in which one of my ext3 filesystems is
getting hung during normal usage. There are three ext3 filesystems on a
CompactFLASH. One is mounted as / and one as /tmp. In my test, I am
copying a 100 MB file from /root to /tmp repeatedly. While doing this
test, I eventually see the copying stop, and any attempts to access /tmp
fail - if I even do ls /tmp the

smbd eating 99% CPU what to do?
Do you know what can cause the smbd process to steal out the cpu usage
(99%) and keep running like that for days?
I have a Samba PDC 3.0.1pre3 running on top of RH9 2.4.20 kernel. Below
is the current top report. Strangely, the PDC still responds in
reasonable good response times to heavy network duty.traced the
log.%machine name% and didn't find anything . I haven't tried to restart

Kernel lockup (kjournald?)
I am getting an odd situation when backing up a number of ext3 filesystems
and was wondering if it could be caused by journalling. Over the space of
a minute the load average will jump from 2 to over 40 and the system will
be unresponsive for anywhere from 8 to 25 minutes. I am going to be trying
a number of things, but was wondering if anyone could see the reason for
the high load given the

Rsync Memory Issues - Kernel 2.4.18 - Box Hangs
Hi,
Im running a Dell 6450 w/ 4GB of memory, 2 2GB Swap Partitions. Redhat 7.3
kernel 2.4.18 (kernel.org). It runs our images for our site. We use rsync to
sync images from a main image box. It runs fine for maybe 4 days untill all
memory is in cache, and like 7MB of physical memory is free. The box will
hardly do anything, and cache will just keep going up and up untill no more
memory is free.

SMBD using nearly 100 percent CPU
Over the past few months, I have seen many postings here about runaway
smbd processes with Samba versions 3.0.20 and above. Personally, it
never happened to me until today. Also, I have stuck with Samba 3.0.13
on most of my machines because of THIS reported issue and a couple of
other issues that I have experienced.
However, I have a machine running RIGHT NOW where smbd has gone out of

Asterisk service crashes
List,
The past few days the asterisk service on my server has crashed several
times. I have had it running for months and have made no changes to it.
When it crashes, I am unable to make calls or gain access to the CLI. The
service has been stopped. If I try to start it again (service asterisk
start), it will start and run for a few seconds then crash again. After a
reboot, it will run

Asterisk-CVS-HEAD locks up on 'reload' from CLI (sometimes)
Lately when I issue a 'reload' from the CLI, I find that it will sometimes
hang forever, completely locked up. I can press enter and see the CLI
prompt move, but no commands are taken. "top" shows asterisk eating
everything up:

Cpus_allowed_list issue in RHEL6.4
Hi All,
I am using RHEL 6.4 on a Dell Server with 32 cores.
But in the Cpus_allowed_list only 30 cores are available. Why is that?
See the snippet from cat /proc/self/status:
Cpus_allowed: 7fff7fff
Cpus_allowed_list: 0-14,16-30
The allowed list is same for the init process as well (see below).
I didn't see this issue, in RHEL 6.2.
Why is that? Is there a way to change it?
