Help request: Windows and Linux authorisation in windows domain.
I have problem (as you noticed ;] ). I have to make unified
authorisation system for large, unsecure network connected to a two
Polish skelete networks. As you see I need to do it right to avoid big
problems.
The goal is to have windows and linux computers authorized by one
Linux mashine. I can do it by installing samba as a windows domain
controller. It would work for windows. Linuxes can

ActiveDomain Login problem
It's probably silly problem...
I've set up Domain Member Server with Samba Kerberos and all that stuff.
It is working correctly (almost) - I can login via ssh & sftp using
name inherited from domain, access shares that require authentication,
all that stuff. Primary Domain Controller is Windows 2003.
The "only" problem is that now it is impossible to login to a domain

How to stop winbindd from granitng UID=0? Security hole?
I have domain controller on Windows 2003.
On the client side standard installation of samba 3.0.1? ldap,
kerberos and winbindd.
Setup should allow all users from domain login to all client's
services (console, ssh and so on) using domain name and password. Ok,
we have acquired this point.
It aslo should be possible to login simply by writing "Login:
MyDomainUsername", but with

Hi:
I?m sorry I didn?t answer before, but I just couldn?t, I was too busy at my
job.
Tom, I did as you suggest me but it was a surprise, I don?t have acccess
to that web site!! I was not prompted for a password or any thing alike but
it was prohibited from my server. Nevertheless my workstation could do it.
I know you might be wondering: how come, but it?s simple. I have a RedHat

mbox slowness in dovecot-1.0-test61
Hi,
We're trying out Dovecot to see if it's a good replacement for UW-imapd.
It seems to be very slow in opening an mbox file, even after it's been
indexed. (I mean way slower than UW)
Here's some info on the system:
Dovecot-1.0-test61
SuSE 8.1, Linux kernel 2.4
Using NFS to access mail.
I've tried turning off mmap, using dotlocking, using fcntl locking

The Public Appology To Francis Cianfrocca
Dear Mongrel Users,
It appears that Francis still isn''t satisfied with my attempts to
apologize and he''s now asked me privately to retract my statements.
So, just to be sure he finally gets it:
I retract my statements that Francis and his friends are "shady" and
"desperate for cash". He is in no way a shady guy, having dealt with
this situation with the

APPEND issue with Thunderbird
I'm getting a strange problem with APPEND and Thunderbird 0.8. This was
working fine in the CVS version from June 8 and is not so fine as of June 20.
It works fine using Pine.
It appears that imap is hanging when trying to append to a folder.
Right now, an imap process has the file open for about 1/2 hour. It wrote
the headers out, but not the body. When Thunderbird disconnects from it,

Download Samba 2.2.8a
I have set up Samba 2.2.8a on Linux as a PDC. Now, I want to set up BDC/"fail over" on Linux. I have already found some useful information to configure BDC on Linux eventhough Samba 2.X officialy doesn't support.
Does anyone know where can I get Samba 2.2.8a? – I don’t see on samba official website.
OR
Is it okay to have Samba 2.2.8a on PDC and Samba 3.0 on BDC?
Both servers

R versus SAS
I found this on CrossValidated:
"A medical statistician once told me, that they use SAS because if
they make mistakes due to software bugs and it comes to lawsuits, SAS
will recompensate them. R comes without warranty."

OT - Alcatel OXE IP trunking licence price
Hello,
For a prospective customer, I need to evaluate the cost of an Alcatel OXE IP
trunking licence price.
The setup would be:
PSTN -----<E1>---- Alcatel ----<SIP>----Asterisk ---------- SIP Phones
At the moment, only a couple of simultaneous calls are needed between
Alcatel PBX and Asterisk but later, this number
will grow.

G729 without licence
Hello all,
I am running Asterisk 1.4.17. I have 2 Linksys SPA3102's and one
PAP2-NA (I have a second on order). They have G729a built into them.
This is supposed to be compatable with G729. I was trying to have them
use that codec when they talk to each other, but it seems they always
switch to alaw or ulaw (depending on my sip.conf file). Shouldn't they
be able to use G729a in

"5LY6Y26D" is invalid serial number. We are talking about partition serial number, which only be number, not HDD serial number.
Depending on how your application trying to get HDD's serial number it might or might not work. Wine does not

The tool read the HD serial trough a low level routine inside the exe file, I
need something that simulate that process on wine.
Do you know if some people had similar problems with other licensed softwares?
