Is it okay to use an NFS-mounted path in the [profiles] path statement?

How do I make sure that owner & permissions don't get set to root on
certain profile files when the user profile is migrated to the PDC
'logon path' area?

root ownership on some profile files cause login errors
Here's another question related to how to use masks --
In my PDC area I specify:
logon path = \\netapp\profiles\%u
This puts server-based (roaming) profiles on my Network Appliance (which
itself is an SMB/PDC client).
A previous admin here left this commented section:

PDC disconnected until restart (NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVER - or so)
Hi,
We experience an every-now-and-then problem with our samba PDC. For a couple of days or so, the PDC runs just fine. Then, one after another, the workstations (Win9x, NT4/SP6a, Win2000/SP3) complain about the PDC not being there and refuse to logon users (naturally). The only workstation that's still able to see and connect to the PDC is the one that's on the same broadcast domain. An

errors in rsync
Last week I re-installed Kubuntu Hardy because I felt the psu was
marginal and I was getting flakey behavior.
The new install was done in another similiar machine with a psu believed
to be good.
Last night I did the first rsync backup and got error in some /var/log
files. Errors listed below.
When I cat /var/log/dpkg.log it stops and aborts in the middle before
getting to the last parts

W2K Office97 File Open or Save problem
Hi all
I have a Samba 2.2.2-3.2mdk build running on 8.1 Mandrake. All the Win9x
clients work fine. The Win2k clients also work fine except that from
within Word or Excel they can't use file open or file save. When trying
to open or save a file on a drive that is mapped to the Samba share then
the app says that the user does not have enough privileges on drive x:

Citrix, Samba PDC experiences.
Hi all,
I've dug through the lists and google, but haven't found very
much info on using Citrix with a samba PDC. The small number of
messages and information I've found, lead me to believe it will
work. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge they'd be
willing to share? I'm currently involved in rolling out Citrix
for proprietary windows apps for remote offices.

autocorrelation in count data
hello,
I try to model traffic accidents with the following model:
glm.nb(y~j+w+m+sf+b+ft,data=fr[]). the problem is that there exist
autocorrelation in the data. one possibility is to model traffic
accidents with inar(1)-models. has anyone an idea how to change this
model in order to abtain an integer valued time series model?
thanks

svn access for libao patches
Hello,
Can I get svn access for applying some libao patches?
It seems that nobody maintains libao currently.
This is really bad because there are many projects out wich using it.
BTW: Not all kind of apps need all available audio controlling settings.
My current plans:
1. extending ao_pulse for controlling prebuffering and latency
2. later extending libao api with volume control (softvol).

Domain logon through VPN with WINS
Hi!
I'm experiencing some serious problems setting up Samba as PDC. File sharing works fine and I can even add my computer to the domain, but when I reboot I can't log in with my samba username and password. I've previously set up similiar server, though it wasn't trough VPN. I'm running latest Debian Etch with every package upgraded. I've also tried some older samba
