Extremely slow du
Hi Kashif,
Thank you for your feedback! Do you have some data on the nature of
performance improvement observed with 3.11 in the new setup?
Adding Raghavendra and Poornima for validation of configuration and help
with identifying why certain files disappeared from the mount point
after enabling readdir-optimize.

Vijay

[PATCH v2 0/4] Avoid 0-bytes malloc in bindings
Hi,
some of the bindings may try to malloc with 0 bytes as size when closing
an handle, because there were no event handlers registered. Since this
can have different behaviours in POSIX, avoid that situation altogether
by just skipping allocating anything when there were no event handlers.
Thanks,

Hi Vijay
I have enabled client profiling and used this script
https://github.com/bengland2/gluster-profile-analysis/blob/master/gvp-client.sh
to extract data. I am attaching output files. I don't have any reference
data to compare with my output. Hopefully you can make some sense out of
it.

Would it be possible for you to turn on client profiling and then run du?
Instructions for turning on client profiling can be found at [1]. Providing
the client profile information can help us figure out where the latency
could be stemming from.

Vijay

grid error message when resizing graphics window after tcltk loaded
Dear R-devel / Dr. Murrell -
This is similar but ultimately unrelated (I think) to something I posted
about in February. See my original post here:
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2008-February/048278.html
I start R with the --vanilla option, and run the following code.
## BEGIN SAMPLE R CODE
library(grid)
for(i in seq(0, 1, by = .1)) {
for(j in seq(0, 1, by = .1)) {

Hi Mohammad,
A lot of time is being spent in addressing metadata calls as expected. Can
you consider testing out with 3.11 with md-cache [1] and readdirp [2]
improvements?
Adding Poornima and Raghavendra who worked on these enhancements to help
out further.
Thanks,
Vijay

no-pty option.
Hello list!
Not sure if this is a proper list to ask and it's not strictly
OpenSSH related.
I put the "no-pty" option on a key and try to login with it. As it
should be - the shell access is denyed.
However, I get an unrestricted access if I execute a command like
this:
$ ssh user at server /bin/sh
I get the shell that just has no prompt but works as usual.

username case
I've had several instances now on my mixed NT 3.51/4.0/Samba
network where clients on Win boxes would enter a username
such as "THisbites", and be denyed access. The account in
/etc/password was capitalized as "THisbites" and the NT
domain account shows in User Manager as "THisbites".
Nonetheless, Samba refuses them access, and claims (on
a debug level3 ) that

roaming profiles Samba 2.2.3a and W2K SP2
Hello samba-insiders,
we have a WinNT 4.0 SP5 PDC and our samba 2.2.3a is member of the domain.
The roaming profiles of our clients stored on the samba 2.2.3a server.
All seams to be perfect but clients with W2K SP2 cannot use there roaming
profiles.
---> "Access Denyed" is the W2K error message.
But if the same user loggs on on a client machine with W2K SP1 all things
are ok.

sendmail / logwatch relaying issue - driving me crazy
Hallo, *<:-)
may be I'm to tired to see the solution, maybe someone can give me a hint?
I do have a couple of servers, sending the daily logwatch report to a
central support email account.
Some servers do have DNS A and CNAME records. On my mailserver relaying
for the servers is allowed.
Only one server drives me crazy, getting user unknown or releaying
denied messages.
Any idea, how

[PATCH] ruby: Fix .new method (RHBZ#1046509).
The .new method was unintentionally broken in
commit 9466060201600db47016133d80af22eb38091a49.
This fixes the .new method and allows it to be called with multiple
parameters, so you can use:
Guestfs::Guestfs.new
Guestfs::Guestfs.new()
Guestfs::Guestfs.new(:close_on_exit => false)
etc.
For backwards compatibility, Guestfs::create may still be used.
This commit also adds regression

IP drop list
I wonder if there is an easy way to provide dovecot a flat text file of
ipv4 #'s which should be ignored or dropped?
I have accumulated 45,000+ IPs which routinely try dictionary and
12345678 password attempts. The file is too big to create firewall
drops, and I don't want to compile with wrappers *if* dovecot has an
easy ability to do this. If dovecot could parse a flat text file of
