Installing Samba on AIX V5.1
I'm trying to install on an AIX box V5.1.
I downloaded the Samba version for 5.1 and ran the executable. But the
install fails.
I got the file from www.bullfreeware.com <http://www.bullfreeware.com/>
Does anyone have any idea why the install would fail?
Thanks

Would appreciate if you can help me resolve this issue. I'm getting

Antwort: Re: AIX openssh use of SRC control
Hi
I've finished and tested a patch to add src routines to openssh (based on the Redbook "Writing Reliable AIX Daemons")
Since a few days I have the O.K. to post it on the list, but I still want to splitt my patch file into logical parts

How to create a new share
This is a simple problem, I'm sure, but it's stumped me so far.
I am using Samba version 2.2.3a on an IBM AIX server and I need to
create a new share and cannot find how to do that from the documentation
I have.
The shares I have were set up by a person that is no longer employed
with us and he didn't document his work so I'm stuck trying to do this.

building in AIXV5.3 using the IBM C for AIX compiler V6.0
What fun. I don't often stoke up the boiler and actually compile
open-source code, but here I am at the beginning of just such a joyous
and wondrous adventure.
I'm running the latest level of AIX (V5.3...V4.3 has been obsolete for
at least, what, 5 years) and using the IBM compiler (xlc is similarly
obsolete, from back when the compiler came with the O/S...oh, for the
halcyon days of

AIX 5.1 rsync large file
Hello,
I have inherited a setup where there are 2 AIX 5.1 systems in 2 separate
sites. There are large database files that are backed from each site to
the other via rsync. Currently, it is using rsync version 2.5.4. It does
it via ssh with the options -avz. This has all been merrily plodding along
for some time. There is one file that is over 45 GB, and it started having
trouble with that

Server option PrintLastLog does not work on AIX
Hi
Apparently, the server option "PrintLastLog" does not work on AIX.
The last login time is always displayed, disregarding the option.
When browsing the code, I found out there are several functions in loginrec.c which solely handle the processing of the last login info (login_get_lastlog, getlast_entry).
Since AIX does not provide such a function natively, the configure script sets

Samba 3.2.4
I have downloaded the source code to my AIX 5.3 server and have compiled it. I'm trying to mount some dfs windows shares to my unix/AIX server using samba. However, I think I'm looking for a smbmount command so that I can mount these shares on my AIX server. I ran the configure command with the -with-smbmount option, but I just don't see the smbmount command at all. What am I missing

samba always expanding nested groups
Volker was working with someone back in Feb on this issue and sent a patch to him but was wondering if that worked and if there was an official fix in the works.
What is happening is even after setting "winbind expand groups = 0" the 13 groups currently assigned to my user are expanding into 220 groups. This also breaks smbd by causing a panic and throwing the sys_set_groups error.

Question on Samba Service
Hi,
For no particular reason, my Samba service didn't start yesterday,
when I went to start it by going in the /usr/local/samba/sbin and then
typing SMBD I got an error
"permission denied" and something about the port 139 (sorry I don't have
the whole error message)
No changes were made on the box.
I started looking over the web and I found an something out something to

Patch for default Kerbers realm in AIX
Hi
I'm currently observing a rather bizarre situation when using password based Kerberos authentication in OpenSSH on AIX.
Even though AIX can authenticate a user via Kerberos (using the KRB5A load module), OpenSSH cannot Kerberos authenticate this user.
This is caused by the fact that the user has two attributes which OpenSSH doesn't take into account when forming the principal name of

I've installed the pware AIX 64bit version of Samba and support filesets but I am having an issue with authentication between the local server user and the equivalent AD user of our domain and it will not mount the respective Samba share on my Windows desktop. Here is how our environment is setup:

map_data
Please keep the mailing list copied in replies. Yes, apparently the map_data function is in the ggplot2 package, not the maps package.
