Still having samba join domain problems
So I was having problems getting a machine to join to a samba PDC running on Solaris 9 using the bundled LDAP server. Ill skip all my previous troubleshooting steps here (Ive tried just about anything and everything). Anyway - so I deleted all of the attributes for samba in the directory and ran the idealx populate script. It seemed to go just fine (the other scripts seem to work fine too).

sambaAcctFlags automatically DUX when logon
hi all, as I wrote yesterday I've set up a samba3.0.3 as pdc for my w2k-domain with ldapsam-backend (cyrus-sasl, heimdal) on suse9.0. everything worked fine. but yesterday the /dev/sda1 (/homes; xfs file system) crashed, when I created a new user with smbldap-useradd. I could repair the xfs file system and everything seemed fine. to test the system I've created a new user. but the new

DUX UX in smbpasswd??
hallo list, samba 2.x + SuSE 7.3 working as PDC in NT/W2K-Network: in the smbpasswd the account flags are set to U, DU, W. But a few accounts have an added X like UX or DUX. The man page describes only flags D, U, W and N. what does the X mean or can it be deleted. Anybody else with this appearance, Marco Lechner

Documentation discrepancies
In my continued attempt to get winbindd working on a simple domain, I decided to go through the documentation in more detail, searching for some possibly hidden clues. In doing so I came across some instruction that left me a little confused... Fast Start: Cure for Impatience - Domain Member Server http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/man/howto/FastStart.html#id2512775 The first point is in the

User permissions on other users home directory
Hello, I have 5 users that need to be able to read and write from each others home directorys. How I have done this is by creating a group office, adding these 5 users to the office group, and then changing ownership of users home directorys to user1:office However, when user1 edits a file in his home directory, user2 can no longer edit it, even though both users are in the office group. par("uin") ?
I inherited a function written either for an older version of R or SPlus to draw a brace, "{", in a graph. It uses par("uin") to determine the scaling of the quarter circles that make up segments of the brace, but that setting doesn't exist in current R. I'm guessing that, in the function below, ux, uy can be defined from par("usr") and

Printers disappearing
Hello people. We have an OLD version of Samba linking a Sun running SunOS 4.1.3 with PCs running Windows 95. Both Samba and the OS are to be upgraded in the next couple of months but until that ahppens we have a problem that I would like some advice on. The problem is the list of defined printers in Windows disappears every now and then. It does not happen for all PCs simultaneously, or

Antwort: Password about to expire -- Turn Windlows Client Password Ageing Off?
Hi, there is a "X" value for the acount flags in smbpasswd ... it means no password expiry! I found it on passdb/passdb.c. If it work?s, maybe I don?t no! Also the password expire time ist hard coded in passwd.c too ... set to infinity. Take a look at the passwd.c code! winbind problems with linux domain member
Hey everyone, I'm having some strange responses, and a bit of trouble with getting access to a member server on my domain. I've got Samba running on another Linux box as a PDC, and my Win2k clients can login just fine, and share between one another. The problem comes in with another Linux workstation that's setup as a member server. Here's the relevant smb.conf section from the

Fw: MS Office files on NT client
No one replied to me ..... But, in case anyone like me searches archives in vain for this problem, the answer is turn off oplocks on the share that the NT client wishes to save Office files to. Don't really understand why this resolves the snag and I guess the performance will take a theoretical hit. But with 20 client machines on a 100Meg LAN this is not really a problem. Phil Daintree Dux

Dovecot auto vacation with sieve doesn't work
Guys, I'm running out of hair to pull out ;). Can anyone out there say that this does work?? To me this is looking like a bug and I'm not sure whether it's the sieve plugin or the dovecot deliver program. I have also had no luck the the "reject" sending any reply back to the sender. My setup: OS: Solaris 10 sparc platform postfix: 2.5.2 dovecot: 1.1.2 sieve plugin: 1.1.5
