nmbd registering itself als DMB is not working
Hello everybody, i'm just setting up a samba server as pdc with ldap backend. everything but netbios works fine. SAMBA 3.0.22 unusual nmbd spawning
Hi, we had upgraded our SAMBA PDC from 3.0.14 to 3.0.22 on a Gentoo system. Now we have problems with peculiar spwaning of too many "nmbd" processes. In smb.conf WINS support is activated, so I would expect two nmb processes. But as you can see in the process list, during SAMBA is running after some minutes another nmbd child is spawned. I tracked down the problem to one example: We

nmbd log error - register_name_response rejected?
Hello all, I'm in the process of moving over my Samba server (using LDAP). I believe everything is functioning correctly, except for this error I get when nmbd starts. Looking back at my old server, it was apparently doing this as well... so it may not even affect needed functionality. Still, I'd like to figure out why it's happening! If anyone has an idea, please let me

nmbd time-out with WINS server
Hi, Problem: When our network has any glitches causing a network time-out for more than a few minutes, our samba servers lose their connectivity with our WINS server even after the network is restored. This causes the WINS server to tombstone the name registration for the samba server(s), thereby causing clients to not connect through the browser. SMB connections are not affected so the

NMBD unresponsive
Hi there, I have found a problem with my Samba server 3.0.28. This problem appeared suddenly without any changes in configuration or server update. NMBD becomes unresponsive in some minutes after startup with these options enabled: name resolve order = wins lmhosts hosts wins server = 172.25.8.86 172.25.8.84 Unresponsive means that it is not possible to connect to server, nmbd eats full

Problems with nmbd (samba 3.0.10)
Hi, I've installed a samba 3.0.10 (configured with --enable-cups, --withsmbmount, --with-acl-support) on a standard SUSE Linux 9.2-Distribution with Kernel 2.6.8-24.10-smp. The Samba-Server works as PDC since a month now and does it fine. But one big problem still exists: After about 10-20 hours after the start of smb+nmb the nmbd stops working. The symtoms are: No new users can login into

nmbd Problem
Hello, I am using samba 2.0.4b on Linux 2.0.36. Since I changed some of the parameters in my smb.conf I have a very strange Problem. Everytime my Samba-Box wins the browselist election process two nmbds are started and my WinXX-Clients do not get access to samba (I could see the server but not access the shares nor login to the domain). smbclient -L server from server works fine. Register Name with nmbd fails after network move
Hello, I am new to SAMBA. Originally, the WIN server and the SAMBA server were located in the same subnet. After the migration of the Microsoft end users subnet to 10.32.12.x, the SAMBA server is no longer able to seem by the Windows clients in 10.32.12.x. The following is the error indicated at /usr/local/samba/var/log.nmbd. I appreciate if anyone can guide me to resolve the problem.

nmbd issue
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Sometime after I installed samba and got everything working, one of my colleagues changed the IP address on the box I did the install on. So after I got passed all the other issues that plaqued me after moving over to fedora 11, I discovered that I could not added Win clients to the domain. I dug into the log files: Jul 8 15:24:03 ldap2

Internal Error in nmbd
We're running samba 2.0.7 on an alphalinux machine (kernel 2.2.16, this is redhat-alpha 6.0, if that's important) and nmbd is crashing with an internal error. See the logs below (log.nmb at the bottom). I'd do some checking around on the samba mailing list archives, but they've been down for some time now. nmbd generates this message on startup. When I ran it from the shell

Possible bug in nmbd.
Hi, My nmbd daemon is dying with an internal error periodically. Samba version is 2.2.7a (I think the latest stable) but I've tried with the Samba package that came with my Linux distro (a Debian Woody) and it failed with the same messages too. Here goes the log.nmbd file: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Netbios nameserver version 2.2.7a

There is Windows 2008R2 actng as DC and Samba4 4.5.2 acting as standalone server in the same network.
