Problems on Mac OS X with owners and groups? For solution, read on...
All, This message is placed here for the aid of others in the future. I have search the archives for this solution, but sadly, only found a couple of (rather old) messages from people exhibiting having the same problems, but without any replies for this solution. Please forgive me as I seem to ramble on here, I do so with the intent of making this solution more findable by others having this

Using the Ingres SQL database with R
Dear R Forum members, I am wondering of anyone has used R to pull data from an Ingres SQL database? My initial thoughts would be to use the RJDBC package and Ingres's JDBC driver. Before I get this thing together, has anyone used this combination and can verify that it works, or can forewarn me of any "gotchas" that may be lurking in the shadows? One uncomfortable feature with

addition of <dl> lists to redcloth
hello! I wish Textile had a syntax for dl-lists. they are very useful in my opinion, mostly as a substitute for deeply nested headings and two-column tables. Wikicode has a syntax for it: ; Foo : definition ; Bar : definition creating: <dl> <dt>Foo</dt> <dd>definition</dd> <dt>Bar</dt> <dd>definition</dd> </dl>

Useful addition to ipfw
Hello, I've found myself in a situation where a simple data inspection capability added to ipfw would be very useful. I'm not thinking about anything especially sophisticated, but what about adding an option to check byte values (or flags, similar to tcpdump)? An example rule could be: add deny udp from any to me 12345 udp[4]&234 being the rule true if byte 4 in the UDP

Re: traffic shaping and gre tunnels (addition)
Hi! I want to add to my previous post that: my setup looks like this internet --> linux router with NAT and tc ==> gre tunnel ==> forwarding router --> LAN At my NATting router I can "see" the forwarded LAN (192.168.2.0/24). Now let''s say that there is a LAN workstation with the IP 192.168.2.18 and I filter the traffic with tc for it. If the fowarding router has

Effects: User action in callbacks in addition to the defined one.
Hello, there is one problem with the afterFinish etc. callbacks. The predefined ones in effects,js do some clean-up like in BlindDown, so I do want them to run. But I also want to run some custom things afterFinish. There is no way to run the predefined action in addition to my code. IMHO, there should be systemAfterFinish for the default stuff and afterFinish for the user''s stuff,

suggestion for addition to R-lang.texi
Small suggestion for the documentation: Should the = operator for assignments, described on http://developer.r-project.org/equalAssign.html, now be included in the operator table in doc/manual/R-lang.texi? If so, one possibility could be after lines 1096/7: @item @code{<-} @tab Left assignment, binary @item @code{=} @tab Left assignment, binary Also, where is the best place to send

Bug#437891: logcheck-database: addition to ignore rule for bind's RCODE
Package: logcheck-database Version: 1.2.54 Severity: wishlist In addition to seeing warnings from bind about REFUSED and SERVFAIL unexpected RCODE, I'm also getting from "15" in my logs as well, from various unrelated hosts. This doesn't occur nearly as frequently as the other two, but still enough to be annoying. May I suggest inserting "(REFUSED|SERVFAIL|15)" in

Iteration : matrix multiplication / addition
Hi,   I am trying to perform recurrent matrix multiplication / addition, i.e Given a matrix X, I’d like to do the following: X + X %*% X + X %*% X %*% X + …  and so on. If I use X^n, it does not perform matrix multiplication but computes each element of the matrix   The only way I found to compute this is by using loops which is time consuming.   Any idea if a simplified function exists? Thank

Problems booting PXE-Client - addition
Hi list, I have posted some messages about problems booting a PXE-client before. Now I have discovered with ethereal that the client does not send a multicast request. The PXE-Packet from server to client looks quite different. At home , where it works, after the PXE-Packets TFTP-Packets follow. At work boot process hangs at the PXE-Packets. Greets, Martin
