Interdomain Trusts
Does anyone know if interdomain trusts work in samba at all and what
versions they do? I am trying to get a 1 way trust working between two
domains and DOM A (which samba is joined to works in mapping users via
winbind) just not the one way trust for the other domain.... DOM B
Samba is just a joined member of the domain A with security = ads with
nothing more than winbind id rid maps for both

[Fwd: Interdomain Trust: winbind not working]
Anyone?
Could you write me the exact steps to have a working
configuration of Samba/winbind domain trusting Windows 2000 Dom?
I've followed the one proposed in the samba howtos but is not
working.
thanks

wbinfo -t not working on BDC
Hi,
I just can't seem to get winbind to work on my BDC. I'm using FC3 and
samba 3.0.20rc2. My PDC is RHEL4 running Samba 3.0.14a. / Openldap.
I can join the BDC to the domain successfully using "net rpc join..." ,
but when i enter wbinfo -t to check the trust relationship i get
checking the trust secret via RPC calls failed
error code was (0x0)
Could not check secret

Access to shares from a machine with no trust account
Hi folks
I don't understand why it is possible to access a share on the samba
server from a pc that hasn't a Trust Account on the samba server.
All i do is to log in on the pc with a local login account (not in the domain).
Then i can access the shares in the following way on the server:
\\server\MyShare
pc asks for username/password --> i login with a valid combination -->
i get

nss, samba3/ldap PDC, NT4 interdomain trust and performance
Hi everyone,
last week I took a look at a samba3 PDC server with some performance
issues. The samba3 PDC has an ldap backend and has nss_ldap configured
properly. It has also interdomain trust so it has nss_winbind configured
too, so in /etc/nsswitch.conf there is :
passwd: compat ldap winbind
group: compat ldap winbind
This setup has some performance issues on the nss_ldap part of the

Trustdom setup and trusted group management
Hello,
I did join 2 sites using an IPSEC tunnel, and made one domain trust the
other (2 small Samba DC based domains with about 10 users in each)
I first had resolving issues until I decided to keep only one WINS server
for both networks (though this is still an issue to me because if for any
reason the tunnel is broken, I have no longer WINS on one side).
Finally here is my setup :

Nagging error
Hello to all.
I keep getting the same error in the logs of all my Samba boxes:

If this has been posted before, my apologies. I've RTFM, and I've googled for

Fw: computer outside domain can access resource to inside
Thank's for you Guys, Wolfgang and Ian,
I think I will try to read about Winbind and implement it in my PDC.
But, what do you think about my theory. Is it right ?
"Users cannot access resources in the network if they don't join to Domain.
And, only administrator with root user+password can make users joined to
Domain"
Thanks

Problems on HP-UX 11i with 'user add script'
This one doesn't make any sense to me. What's worse, it seems to
occasionally work and sometimes not. I am attempting to log into a domain
(DOMA let's say) and I only have an account on DOMB. When DOMA's Samba PDC
attempts to create a UNIX account for me, this is what happens:
[2005/01/04 15:47:15, 3] auth/auth_util.c:smb_create_user(53)

Samba & ACLs?
How exactly do Samba 3.x and ACLs interrelate? With
the mount parameter I've turned on ACLs on the whole
filesystem that Samba has various pointers into
(including all the home directories and the netlogon).
I started out naively assuming that the *nix
uidNumber/gidNumber Samba mapped the end user to would
behave exactly the same whether they were a Samba user
or were logged on locally. But

that trust support is not finished yet, btw in changelogs seems that in

Interdomain Trust: winbind not working
Hi there,
i got a problem trying configuring an Interdomain trust, this is
my scenario (very simple one):
domain domA (windows 2000 mixed mode) trusting domB (samba 3.0.23a-1)
and vice-versa.
some wbinfo:
ale:~# wbinfo -m
RGM5
ale:~# wbinfo --sequence
RGM5 : DISCONNECTED
BUILTIN : 1157982872
SYS2 : 1157982872
ale:~# wbinfo -t
checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded

The 'nobody' account (mapping not found for gidNumber: 99)
Hi,
I am using a samba domain controller with an LDAP backend. I am also
using samba domain controllers with this setup similar to those
described in the 'Domain Members, Updating Samba and Migration' chapter
of the Samba By Example book.
On the domain member servers winbind stores the UID<->SID in the Idmap
section of the directory. This appears to be working correctly, however

computer outside domain can access resource to inside
Dear,
I have PDC Server running under Redhat 9 and use samba 2.2.7. It has running until now.
That I know, users cannot access resources in the network if they don't join to Domain. And, only administrator with root user+password can make users joined to Domain.
But, I have one problem.
There is one user, bring the private notebook. He create ip address (same with his office-computer),

interdomain trust between two samba pdc's
I have been trying off and on for some time now to get an interdomain trust
relationship going between two samba pdc machines (DomainA=trusted &
DomainB=trusting). Both pdc's are running on Solaris boxes and NIS is
involved (I doubt there is a NIS complication just because I can use
accounts on DomainA on DomainB's samba, as long as I add them using
smbpasswd manually).
The situation

Samba4 - Interdomain trust with samba3
Hello,
I'm actually migrating resources from an old samba3/LDAPĀ (DOMAINA) to a
Samba4 domain (DOMAINB) .
I succeded in populating Samba4 users and groups from the old one.
Now both domain live together during the migration i would like to set
up an interdomain trust between the 2 domains so that samba4 users can
still have access to samba shares on the old samba3 domain. So it would

samba4 domain member and multiple domains
Hello.
I've got a samba4 domain member server. It works fine for the joined
domain, but I'm not able to let user from a different domain get
access. This worked fine on my samba3 member server, but I don't
remember if I did anything special.
I do have authentication set on the AD object for the users in
question and we have a one-way trust with the other domain. All DCs

Binding to Tun0 device
Hello all,
We have a few aliased Ethernet addresses on our server and if I do not
use the Bind statement in the "Global" section then the NMBD seems to
try to bind to all of the addresses.
We are actually using OpenVPN which make the connections just fine on a
172.16.x.x subnet to "tun0" device.
The problem is that Samba does not seem to find the tun0 device and
reports
