Can Samba be installed on Windows 2000
Hello,
Can Samba be installed on a Windows 2000 machine (then create a share) so
that on the Unix side you can mount the share thats been created (the
opposite of installing Samba on Unix and then mapping a drive on a Windows
2000 machine to a Unix share)?
I don't need to do this, i was just wondering.

Synchronising NT, unix and Samba passwords
Our Samba is working perfect except that when a users NT password expires
and the user changes it they can't access the share anymore from Windows NT
explorer. At the moment i have to log on to our unix system and change the
unix and samba passwords manually to match the new NT password. I've been
looking through all the websites on Samba but nothing has helped. I've done

after identify labels dissapear XP
Greetings:
Using 'identify' to label points on a plot works just fine. However, when
saving under 'metafile' or using the clipboard the labels dissapear. I
believe it's an SDI issue. I am running last R with last Tinn-r under XP up
to date. Anything I can do besides going back to MDI :-)?

Loop and Solver with Black/Scholes-Formula
Hello,
for my diploma thesis I need to program a solver for Merton?s respectively
Black?s and Scholes? Option pricing formula, which should be achieved for
several dates.
What I want to do is to estimate the value of a firm?s assets "vA" (x[2]
denotes vA) and the option-implied volatility of firm?s assets "sigA" (x[1]
denotes sigA) by solving it simultaneous using the Black

Help understanding lrm function of Design library
Hi,
I'm developing an experiment with logistic regression.
I've come across the lrm function in the Design library.
While I understand and can use the basic functionality, there are a ton
of options that go beyond my knowledge.
I've carefully read the help page for lrm, but don't understand many of
the arguments and optional return values.

samba3.0.10
Hi Jerry/Samba Team
I have Samba 3.0.10 installed on Solaris8 server and Samba-client-2.2.10
installed on Linux Red Hat2.1AS servers
The Linux servers use Samba to mount filesystems from Solaris8 server.
My question is how to find out on the Solaris8 server which Linux servers
are using Samba to mount from.
Because it is hideous to go to every Linux server and see which Solaris8
server they are

rsync 2.5.6 freezes between Solaris2.6/Commercial SSH Version 2.0.12 and Solaris8/OpenSSH_3.6.1p1
We had been using rsync and Commercial SSH to sync up
two SUN boxes running Solari2.6 and Commercial SSH
Version 2.0.12. It has never been a problem syncing
between over 80,000 files and 4GB of content
We are upgrading to Solaris 8 and OpenSSH_3.6.1p1
However now when I go between the older and the newer
environment even with just a few hundred files, the
rsync hangs or freezes when it hits a

rsync-2.5.6 performance sucks between winXP and Solaris8
If I try to rsync OpenOffice-directory (OO as an example, 155 MBytes)
to Solaris8-machine/rsync-server it takes 4-5 minutes, about
70 MBytes gets transfered and eventually rsync.exe/winXP "dies"; actually
winXP's net doesn't responde anymore and I have to boot whole machine!
But when I try to do same between Linux and Solaris everything
works fine, transfer speed is about

scp 3.1p1 problem on Solaris
I have removed ANDIrand from my Solaris8 system and installed patch
112438-01 which provides native /dev/random and /dev/urandom devices.
Recompiled both openssl-0.9.6c and openssh-3.1p1, restarted sshd.
Now I seem unable to use scp, and connections to the local sshd appear
to be very slow.

Hi,
It appears that rsync doesn't detect the changes when we try to synchronize
files of type JAR (Java Archive). Appreciate your inputs.
Thanks,

Best performance measure?
Hello,
I working on a model to predict probabilities.
I don't really care about binary prediction accuracy.
I do really care about the accuracy of my probability predictions.
Frank was nice enough to point me to the val.prob function from the
Design library. It looks very promising for my needs.
I've put together some tests and run the val.prob analysis. It produces

openssh password expiration problem
openssh password expiration problemPatrick,
Indeed password aging does not work with OpenSSH 3.0.1p1 on Solaris 2.6. >From what I can tell something is different with Solaris 2.6 and Solaris 2.8. I know that password expiration doesn't cause a problem on Solaris8. I'm unclear as to whether the problem is with OpenSSH code or Solaris. All I know is that the latest PAM patches are not

Samba and private shares
I'm running samba 2.5 on a FreeBSD box using winbind to do authentication
with my PDC/BDC. I'm able to configure shares that everyone on the NT
network can access but when I configure private shares (only 1 or 2 users
have access to) the users get prompted for a username and password and are
not allowed access. What am I doing wrong? Below I have included a copy of
my smb.conf and pam.conf

user names containing @
Hi,
we are running Samba 2.2.2 on Solaris8; one client (MS 2000) is not able to map a drive:
The tcpdump shows the correct user name <user>@<dom>.
smbd -d 3 shows <user>_<dom> and thus the authentication on the PDC fails.
Does anybody know why Samba translates the @ into an _?
Thanks a lot,
Roman
