a good way of life
Thank you all for your answers. One told me that in order to allow the students to upload/download from their home directories, FTP or something like that is a simple and easy choice. As domain logon and roaming profil is not needed and FTP can be logged, I'll use this. Another question for our brillants candidates : How to batch the creation of a Samba account ? Hai Mason, I only dont have the time to work this out now. But the 2 Stefan'ss have done this part. Script + proxymod : Stefan Kania, ask him if he is willing to share his vagrant vm setup. Preseed+script: Stefan W. : https://gist.github.com/stefangweichinger/66bfc5c6518c3838e5834287c681ae80 Look at line 220. You could change that to a script you make. And with something like this

What options do I have to create OUs and ACLs in Samba4?
I need to create a couple of OUs under Users to separate my internal users from my external users that have LDAP backed accounts so I can put ACLs over the external users so I can limit what they can see on the tree. What options do I have to create the OUs and the ACLs in a Samba4 AD-DC domain?

ACLs on OUs
Hi all, When created through RSAT OUs receive, by default, ACLs to refuse removal. When created through LDIF and ldbadd OUs do not receive these ACLs. Is there a way to create these ACLs using command line tools? Cheers, mathias

Im doing a project using Rcommander. I have a dataset with 5 variables, BMI being one of them. I would like to find the variance, standard deviation, range, median, etc of BMI. However, everytime I type a command into the script window, (such as var(BMI$BMI,na.rm=TRUE) )an error message pops up saying Object "BMI" not found. I can graph it, work it, do t-test, etc,. using %d as a variable in the ldap search base
If you already tested %d in the ou of the auth user bind, and it is not working. I guess you are just left with options like 1. 3 different vm's 2. auth bind = no base, scope subtree that is parent of those 3 ou's and then apply filters something like pass_filter = (&(objectClass=posixAccount)(uid=%n)(ou:dn:=%d)) 3. investigate if nslcd(/ssss?) has an option to use multiple queries

Samba 3.0, LDAP, OUs and how to add machine accounts
Hello, I have a Samba 3.0/LDAP setup with | ldap machine suffix = ou=Computers but as this is for a school, I decided to separate teachers and scholars computers into different sub-OUs for my own mental sanity. So in LDAP it looks like: | dn: uid=pc116$,ou=Schueler,ou=Computers,dc=lise-meitner,dc=at or | dn: uid=biblio1$,ou=Lehrer,ou=Computers,dc=lise-meitner,dc=at This works absolutely

Just plain drag&drop in Outlook doesn't work (gives a very cryptic error message in a certain folder, but that folder is perfectly all right), and using the import option also barfs when
