Can't connect from Windows 2000
I recently upgraded my Linux install (Debian potato to woody) and now Samba is no longer playing nice with Windows 2000. I can use smbclient on the samba machine to connect to itself, so at least that's working. The error from Windows is: "The semaphore timeout period has expired.". I deleted the smb.log file at one point in an effort to reset it. I figured it'd be created

XP Failure to Join Domain
I?m using SAMBA 3.0.4-6.3E as a PDC. I have Win98, WinNT4 and Win2000 clients successfully joined to the domain. But I can?t get an XP box to join. The XP machine can ?see? shares on the SAMBA PDC but strangely does not show up in network neighbourhood. You can find it if you search for it. The PDC is just using smbpasswd, no LDAP The machine add line in my smb.conf is as follows..... add

Problem with XP after upgrade from 2.2 -> 3.0
Hello All, About 2 weeks ago I upgraded from debian woody to sarge. This included an upgrade from Samba2.2 -> Samba3.0. However since the upgrade I have problems using my Samba server from my XP (home) Laptop. The symptoms are basically "explorer" freezeing on most network browseing type actions. Or if I open a file (eg a movie). I'm pretty confident that I don't have a

issues with 3.0.14a domain member after 2003 dc upgrade
Hello list, Recently I've rebuilt our Windows 2000 DCs to Windows 2003 SP1 DCs that my 3.0.14a, mit-krb5-1.3.6, openldap-2.1.30 Gentoo box is a part of. Since then, on the Samba box I can getent group, getent passwd, wbinfo -t, wbinfo -g, wbinfo -u, etc. properly but anyone who accesses the shares on the Samba member server gets prompted for a password. The logs are as follows:

Connection reset by peer
Hi, I run Samba 2.0.5a on Linux 2.2.12 (Slackware). My clients get an error regularly (Windows95) "Network path not found" and then they lose their connection completely. Severe problem with Samba
Dear All, we are experiencing severe problems with Samba 2.2.0 (with quota support) running on a dual processor (400MHz) Sun E450 running Solaris 2.7. This is used as a central file server for student diskspace, accessed by approx 1200 PCs running NT 4. Up until recently we experienced some, what we assume to be, loading issues with connections during the middle of the day being slow.

Connection hangs...
In problem-fixing, the "nicest" problems are those reproducible on demand. Alas, this one is not nice. System: Samba 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.7 (also see similar on Solaris 2.6). Symptom (user perspective): PC suddenly, spontaneously freezes and eventually the connection times out. Symptom (log file): [2000/02/15 09:27:30, 0] ../lib/util_sock.c:read_socket_data(474)
