mac client and inherited permissions
Hi everyone, We are a longtime samba/win desktop shop but are getting more Macs. Samba sernet rpms 3.3.9 on CentOS 5.4 test box (started to test 3.43 but will wait) and I confirmed a problem I have been having in production. Server is ADS member with ldap stored idmap. All AD auth and idmap are identical to production servers and have been working fine for years. Filesystem is XFS and there are

Samba Compile Error on 3.0.7 and 3.0.8 Pre 1 on X64 Fedora
Hi Exact same error occures on a dual AMD64 Fedora Core 3 64 bit with samba 3.0.20Pre1. However, I have discovered taht putting the compile option "-m32" in the C compiler flags, which force 32 bit compilation, the error doesn't happen. The sad part of the story is that compilation crash later in the process. It may be a compilatotor/linker error when assembler code is created, but

Upgrade from 3.0.7 to 3.0.8 breaks winbind
This is my first post to this list. The domain names etc have been changed slightly in the examples below, but you should get the idea. For a long time now (since 3.0.2a?), I have been using the samba 3.0.x series at one of our client sites. The Linux server is joined to a Win2k3 Active Directory. All users are created in the ADS, and the Linux server is able to authenticate them, etc. I

SMB signing broken? 3.0.7 -> 3.0.8
Hi all. I originally suspected this problem was with netbios (which I have disabled by default) and Jerry has helped me out a bit with but I've been doing some more digging and I think the problem lies back further than I expected. I was trying to upgrade from 3.0.7 to 3.0.11 so I've recompiled all versions back from 3.0.11 and the problem first occured in 3.0.8. The issue is with

3.0.8 build failure OS X 10.3.6
I am trying to build 3.0.8 Release on OS X Server 10.3.6 as the latest version of samba installed with the 10.3.6 update (3.0.5) has broken our backup strategy which has a Windows server backing up SAMBA/SMB volumes ( this issue is noted in Dantz Retrospect KB and the solution is to upgrade to SAMBA 3.0.6+). We use the OS X server as a PDC. After a ./configure; make Using FLAGS = -O

Cannot compile 3.0.x on Solaris 9
Dear list, is there anyone who successfully compiled a Samba 3.0.X on a Solaris 9 box? I tried severl versions of Samba 3.0.* on five rather differently configured Solaris 9 boxes (Sparc) and ALWAYS get a build error on dynconfig.c Sometimes it seems to be a missing ldap-preprocessor define (which is protested by the compiler although I configured --with-ldap=NO), sometimes it is a header file

How to increase the max connections allowed on samba 3.0.8
Hello, I have 300 users and each one needs at least 5 shared disk via samba, but with my samba version 3.0.8 I have no more than 350 smbd processes enable so I have the message : [2004/11/26 11:14:20, 0] smbd/service.c:(340) Couldn't find free connection. The variable MAX_CONNECTIONS is no more present in smbd/conn.c, so how can I increase my free connection set. I'm in production
