winbind: idmap_rid - no user mapping
Hello, I've some trouble with winbind and the idmap_rid feature in an ADS environment. (Opteron with Debian 3.1pure64, official Samba/Winbind packet 3.0.14a) Without "idmap backend = idmap_rid:...." in the smb.conf a "getent passwd" works fine. Then I delete the /var/lib/samba/*.tdb-files, activate idmap_rid in smb.conf (see below) and join the ADS-Domain once more -

New ADS infrastructure with winbind - Which is the best ID-mapping: IDMAP_RID or IDMAP LDAP with ADS + SFU schema ?
A question for the best winbind SID-UID/GID mapping in our situation: I'm building a new infrastructure with Windows 2003SP1 ADS Domaincontrollers and some Debian Servers (File: Samba+NFS; Mail; Web; ....) and varios XP and Debian Clients. After reading Chapter 12. (Identity Mapping) in the Samba-HOWTO is IDMAP_RID in couple with winbind an easy way to solve the problem with syncr.

time delay in group listing on win-machines
Showing the group of a folder/file in a mounted samba share under XP(SP2)/2003R2-Server need some seconds. Only the SID of the group and the owner is shown initaly This problem occurs not on a mounted share from a Windows-Server. 'getent group' on the Samba machine (via nss-ldap from 2003-AD) works perfect. I've no idea, where should I search. Can anybody please help? Thanks.

amd 64 ??
Hi, I got a amd 64 + debian/pure64 system. R is installed by apt-get so it's no doubt that R is for 64bit. My question is, for those packages, for example, ipred, it's difficult to find in which official debian packages they are. How could I install them? if I used install.packages in R, the packges I get are 64 bit or 32 bit? Thank you all.

Warcraft III can't find cdrom
Hi, After setting the windows version to winxp I managed to install this game without a problem. Playing however is another matter. It appears it can't find the CDrom. I'm using the deb-packages from winehq (version 20050111) in a sid chroot on an AMD64 pure64 install with kernel 2.6.8 (Debian package 2.6.8-10). I copied the config file from the sample in the documentation and only

Samba as AD member & without winbind...
Hi all, without winbind co actually we have running samba 4.5.16 under Devuan 2.0 (Ascii) as AD member without winbind configured. UID and GID informations coming from NSS (nslcd -> LDAP). LDAP and AD are in sync. After upgrade to Devuan 3.0 (Beowulf) with samba 4.9.5 this constellation does not work anymore. Samba insists on configuring winbind. Can I configure winbind to use

orddom package for Ordinal Dominance Statistics
Dear R-users, a new R package has been released named orddom. This package provides ordinal estimates as alternatives to independent or paired group mean comparisons, especially for Cliff?s delta statistics. It provides basic parameters for various robust tests of stochastic equality with ordinally scaled variables. For two sets of data, ordinal comparison estimates are calculated such as -

Installation
Hi, I have the following (probably trivial) problem: I am running a Windows 95 System and have setted the environment variables R_HOME and especillay R_USER in the autoexec.bat. The idea was, to invoke R at the startup to read in the files .Renviron and .Rprofile from my home directory, even when the current working directory is somewhere else. Subject to the manual it should work, but it does

Usage of p/d/qnorm
Hello, could You please help: I am looking for a way to formulate test accuracy measures such as test sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, and correct classification rate using p/d/qnorm. The tests' primary values follow a bimodal distribution, which is modelled by a mixture of two normal distributions: p * dnorm ((x - u1) / s1) / s1 + (1 - p) * dnorm ((x - u2) / s2) / s2)

Re: using LVM thin pool LVs as a storage for libvirt guest
Please don't use lvm thin for vm. In our hosting in Russia we have 100-150 vps on each node with lvm thin pool on ssd and have locks, slowdowns and other bad things because of COW. After we switching to qcow2 files on plain ssd ext4 fs and happy =). 2017-11-04 23:21 GMT+03:00 Jan Hutaƙ <jhutar@redhat.com>: > Hello, > as usual, I'm few years behind trends so I have learned

using LVM thin pool LVs as a storage for libvirt guest
Hello, as usual, I'm few years behind trends so I have learned about LVM thin volumes recently and I especially like that your volumes can be "sparse" - that you can have 1TB thin volume on 250GB VG/thin pool. Is it somehow possible to use that with libvirt? I have found this post from 2014: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libvirt-users/2014-August/msg00010.html which says

Merge?
I see that feature freeze for a better than ever R has been announced. May I ask if there will be or could be "merge" function for data frames? I believe it would be very nice if this were "centrally" implemented (with regard to my humble steps to writing such a function and the related error and other precautions). I know from VR2R.pdf (courtesy Profs. Venables and Ripley)

factor analysis (pca): how to get the 'communalities'?
Dear expe-R-ts, I try some test data for a factorAnalysis (resp. pca) in the sense of Prof. Ripley's MASS ? 11.1, p. 330 ff., just to prepare myself for an analysis of my own empirical data using R (instead of SPSS). 1. the data. ## The test data is (from the book of Backhaus et al.: Multivariate ## Analysemethoden. Re: using LVM thin pool LVs as a storage for libvirt guest
Do you have some comparasion of IO performance on thin pool vs. qcow2 file on fs? In my case each VM would have its own thin volume. I just want to overcommit disk-space.
