samba 3.0.x / roaming profiles / NT MD4 problems
Hi, I'm setting up a new sambserver, migrating from 2.2.8a with ldap backend to 3.0.x (3.0.2a and 3.0.3pre2 tested) with openldap 2.1.26 backend and using sambaSamAccount I'm experiencing the following problem: - Roaming profiles sometimes work, sometimes not (most of the time not) and show erratic behaviour like removing the local copy (without having the DeleteRoamingCache key in

2 servers won't sync browse lists accross network
We've got two samba servers either side of a modem link and I'm trying to get them to sync browse lists. Using remote sync and friends the servers try and sync but invariably each time one does the other end rejects the `browse sync sessionsetup' i.e. sync_with_lmb: Initiating sync with local master browser BOX1<0x20> at IP 192.168.1.2 for workgroup WORKGROUP 04/06/1998

remote subnet browsing and NT4.0SP3
Hello, I have a samba 1.9.18p4 server running as a domain master browser on a subnet, with some clients distributed on other subnets. If there are only Win 95 clients on a subnet, browse sync works - but not if there are Win NT 4.0 SP3 machines on that subnet. Error from nmdb (at log level 3): sync_with_lmb: Initiating sync with local master browser MAILHEIDELBERG<0x20> at IP

Authentication from Vista?
I have a Linux server providing file and print services to a small network of XP systems. The printer and most of the shares are available to all as read-only. One particular share is used by the XP Administrator accounts (mapped to root) to hold XP backup data. This has been working fine for the last couple of years. A new system added to the network runs Vista Home Premium and along with

RPC Server unavailable
We have migrated away from a single MS AD to a 2 server Samba AD. We have DC1, which is a samba 4.5 server, and DC2, which is a samba 4.2 server. Everything seems to be working fine, with the exception that I can't connect to DC1 using Windows RSAT, where I can connect to DC2 without any problems. When connecting, an pretty generic error is shown: "The following domaincontroller could

The servers from the remote subnet do not show up in the browse list of the PDC and the following message appears in the log.nmb file: sync_browse_lists: RAINIER rejected the browse sync sessionsetup RAINIER is the name of the PDC. Unable to authenticate against an OS/2 PDC
In keeping with my theme of OS/2 - Samba (v 3.0.15) authentication issues I have another issue that I was hoping to get some help with. What we are trying to do is have the Samba server authenticate users against an existing OS/2 PDC. I believe that I have set everything up correctly however I am not able to authenticate any users successfully. First I try to join the domain by running the

Friendly Reminder: Would you please comment on my findings?
Ah, ok, "directory handle leases"... Ouch, I see... :-( In this case, I will first repeat my test scenario with a Windows SMB2 server and report back here. Based on the results of this exercise, you can then advise whether you still want to move this to smb-technical and raise this with Microsoft folks (who still might have a simple workaround "fix" to improve their SMB2

won't sync browse lists accross subnet
Folks, I'm confused with those whole samba/security thing. I'm running the latest SAMBA without encryption and default share security. As a result, I can't get my NT PDC to sync browse lists with my samba server, which is on a different subnet. I get the following error in log.nmb: sync_browse_lists: NT-SERVER0 rejected the browse sync sessionsetup My goal is to force those who
