TE110P w/ Dell SC1420 ... any problems out there?
I have a customer that has a Dell SC1420. They want to use that as
their Asterisk server w/ a Digium TE110P.
Digium's website doesn't mention this server one way or the other in
their compatibility list. Is there anyone out there using the SC1420?
If so, any problems?
Cheers,
Kevin

Dell PowerEdge + TDM
Hi,
what new Dell servers are compatible and KNOWN to work with Digium TDM
cards? I've looked at Digium's compatibility list
at http://www.digium.com/index.php?menu=compatibility. Does this mean
that other Dell servers like SC1420, SC1425, 800, 1800 are working just
fine with TDM cards?
Can someone clarify this?
Thanks

Lessons from LibreOffice project
The message below came to me from the Getting Open Source Logic INto
Government list. I'm passing it on to the devel list as the infoworld
article may have some ideas of relevance to the R project, mainly
concerning build and test issues and tracking changes in the code base.
While the LibreOffice project is very different from R, there may
nevertheless be some tips we can borrow in the

IPSEC, multiple subnets and multiple road warriors, oh my! :)
Hi all,
I''ve been using Shorewall 1.42 for a month on two firewalls at work and
my own personal colocated server and love it. While pretty familiar
with iptables, I don''t like dealing with it on a daily basis, and
Shorewall certainly makes life easier. I''ve deployed Shorewall on both
our Toronto and Ottawa office firewalls, and have configured a

W2K Workstation not reading NTConfig.pol
I have recently set up an small SAMBA network(just my
server and a W2K SP4 Workstation). My Server is acting
as a PDC. Everything seems to work flawlessly, users,

make this machine to read my NTConfig.pol file.
I have it at my NETLOGON share [/srv/netlogon] with

R-User groups in North America (SF, LA, NYC, Ottawa)
Hi R folks,
I'd like to announce several new R users groups here in SF, LA, NYC,
and Ottawa - as well as their next scheduled event. The goal of these
user groups, besides gently explaining 'drop=TRUE' to the uninitiated,
is to exchange knowledge, promote best practices, and spur the
adoption of R for innovative applications. If I've missed any groups
here, please feel to add on

Mathematica and R
What are some effective ways to leverage the strengths of R and
Mathematica for the analysis of a single data set?
More specifically, are there any functions that can assist with any of
the following?
1. Calling an R function from Mathematica.
2. Calling a Mathematica function from R.
3. Using XML or another reliable data format to pass vectors, matrices,
and/or lists from one environment to

3-D plot of likelihood
Could anyone recommend a package for visualizing a likelihood function
of two scalar parameters? I would prefer a three-dimensional plot
similar to the kind Mathematica is known for, perhaps generated by a
package not specific to likelihood.

high RAM on Linux or Solaris platform
To help me make choices regarding a platform for running high-memory R
processes in parallel, I would appreciate any responses to these
questions:
1. Does the amount of RAM available to an R session depend on the
processor (Intel vs. Sun) or on the OS (various Linux distributions vs.
Solaris)?
2. Does R have any built-in limitations of RAM available to a session?
For example, could it make use

Simulation conference -- possible R opportunity
I have been talking with Gabriel Wainer about the possibility of some community building
with R and simulation workers. The conference announced below is just before UseR (but in
that capital to the north of Washington).
If anyone on this list is participating or thinking of participating, perhaps they could
let me know off-list. Ottawa-Gatineau R User Group would likely try to set up some
