Problems with winbind Samba 3.014a
Hi,
I have posted a couple of questions on this problem but have not had any
replies.
I would be very grateful if anyone can give some help with this.
Running Samba 3.0.14a with winbind and acl support Solaris 8 NT4 domain.
Trying to run Samba 3 with security = Domain using pass through
authentication no LDAP backend.
Samba appears to work for users but we are getting lots of the following

"id" and "id username" don't match up when using Winbind groups
Hi,
I've got a file server running Ubuntu / hoary, with Samba/Winbind
version 3.0.14a. We moved to this new(er) version because we recently
upgraded to Windows Server 2003 SP1, and so anything older than this was
horribly broken.
Unfortunately, our group problems don't appear to be completely gone.
I've got the PAM and NSS winbind stuff setup so that domain users appear
to be local

Resolving inconsistant on DC with AD backend. GID 100 and 10000
Small update.
And changed the subject, was : [Samba] Domain member server: user access .
My last test was done with 4.6.7.
Now upgraded a DC to 4.6.8 ( and last result in 4.6.7 was 10000 )

Domain users not resolving...
I stepped into a setup where Samba was compiled and installed into
"/samba". The configure command on the DC is "configure
--prefix=/samba". The links for libnss_wins.so.2 and libnss_winbind.so.2
are there and nsswitch.conf is told to use winbind. However, "getent
group" returns only local users, "id" finds NO domain users, and "getent
passwd"

Winbind home directory not resolving properly
Hi all:
I've got an issue on one of my winbind-configured systems. I've got
it configured per instructions found on one of ubuntu's forum sites.
I've configured two 9.10 systems, one works perfectly. I've copied
most of the files over to the non-working system; they are configured
identically as far as I can tell.
On both systems, wbinfo -u/-g, getent passwd, and ssh login

[IDMAP AD] Strange questions on uid/gid resolution.
Dear all,
I am using Win2003 with SFU 3.5 (not R2) as domain controller. I enabled the
UNIX attributes of several users and groups. I use idmap = ad to connect to
my Win2003 box and setup the winbind / nss accordingly. wbinfo -u / -g work
fine, getent passwd / group works fine, chown works fine, id <username>
works fine. But when I tries to use ls or groups <username>, it returns the

Winbind/nsswitch issue on Solaris 9 (Sparc)
Hi all
I need to set up Samba on Solaris 9 (Sparc) as a Windows Domain Member.
I took the precompiled 64-bit Package
(samba-2.2.8a-1-sol8-suncc-64bit.pkg) from samba.org, which comes with
pam-winbind libraries, and it installed fine.
I ran a test before with Samba 2.2.8 on Solaris 8 (Intel), but there I
compiled myself with ./configure --with-winbind --with-pam --with-quotas

Fixed: embedded R resolving wrong symbols
Hi Duncan
Your suggestion to use '-Bsymbolic' proved to be (almost) the solution. I
tried that and it didn't work because I'm using gcc instead of Sun's
compilers. It took me a bit of time to discoed that gcc uses '-symbolic'
rather than '-Bsymbolic'.
Once I figured that out, changing
LIBR_LDFLAGS = -shared
to
LIBR_LDFLAGS = -symbolic -shared

Samba + LDAP NSS resolving
I'm using the howto from idealx and the samba-guide to configure a
samba server with LDAP backend.
The config works fine until I get to the step:
getent passwd | grep root
It doesn't query any of the LDAP entries that were added with
smbldap-populate or smbldap-useradd - it only returns local entries.
I've checked the nsswitch.conf, ldap.conf, smbldap.conf, log files.
I can query

nss_windbind.so can't see groups that wbinfo -g can (4.0.9 as AD DC)
[I'm afraid $customer made me anonymize their rootdn, user and group
names, so the ones below are made up. Hopefully I haven't introduced
any errors in the process.]
I'm running Debian 7 with samba 4.0.9dfsg1-1 built from
git://git.debian.org/pkg-samba/samba. I'm using samba as an AD DC,
with accounts migrated from a samba3/slapd stack using samba-tool
domain classicupgrade.

Strange UID/GID mapping in Samba-3beta1 and Win2003 server
I have strange uid/gid problem.
I am testing Samba 3-beta1 and Samba is ADS member to W2003 server.
Everythings work, wbinfo, getent passwd and so on.
Now to the problem:
When I list the users with getent passwd I get:

Guest:x:10001:10002:Guest:/global/mnt1/SAMBA/home/TEST.SE/guest:/bin/sh

Newbie needs help
Hello,
I have an old crossword program that runs OK on Win98, WinMe, and XP.
I have installed, via yum, wine and wine-devel and the associated
dependencies on my Fedora 8 system.
I have copied all the files from the program's install floppy to a
directory in my home folder, the same as installing it on XP.
However, when the program tries to access the word files it fails and
