Old application very slow
Hi,
This weekend I migrated a samba-server to new hardware and software :
I'm running samba 3.2.7-11.3.2 on Opensuse 11.1.
Everything works fine I believe except for an old DOS-application,
written in Clipper. It's too slow to be usable. I tried to debug this
but I'm stuck.
I put the loglevel to 10, but I can't see anything wrong.
I first added to veto oplock files :

Testing samba4 connection on Windows
Hi,
I installed samba4 (zentyal 3.4) and I followed the Samba4 AD DC Howto
from the wiki to test the linux-side. There all seems OK.
Unfortunately, when I try to register a Win7 PC, the domain is not
found. So what can I do to test things on the Windows-side ?
I did :
C:\net view /domain:ace_domain
returns :
\\ZENTYAL1
which is my DC
After manually "mounting" the test1-share :

NT4 migration errors
Hi
I've setup samba 3.0.14 with the latest idealx scripts on FC3.
Now I have a test lab to migrate from NT4 box which different than the
standalone PDC I have running.
Here's the order I used and my ldap and samba configs are clean
as far as I can tell since I do get a partial migration.
When using 'net rpc vampire -S nt4 -W DOMAIN' it populates the
groups from NT4 and shows the

Problems setting up a Samba BDC
Hello,
I am trying to setup a SLES9 system as a Samba BDC. The PDC is NT4.
I am using an LDAP backend and have installed the smbldap tools. I am following
the directions found in the HOWTO and am running into trouble, maybe someone
can shed some light on things for me and tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I will print the commands I'm using to try and create the samba BDC and we'll go

Hai Koenraad,
Just a suggest, what about and email adres to create your pdf files.
thats what im doing here.
like companypaper at domain.tld , which generates from excel doc etc to a pdf file with companypaper.
or plain at domain.tld same as above but no company logo.
or multipdf at domain.tld merge mutiple pdf files to 1. ( or multiple doc/xls files )
and this is much faster for us

Hello,
I try to use Samba as a PDC. I have a old Windows 4.0 PDC and I want to get
the users and the groups from the PDC.
I joined the domain and get the users and groups with "net rpc vampire". The
users and the groups were written in
local user- and group-database, but the relation between the users and
groups were lost, in the groups were no users.

Question about policies [OT?]
Hi,
I'm using samba 3 as a domain controller. For some XP-pro laptops I
would like to disable the firewall when they are logged in on our
network (I don't like it but I have to). Is this possible with Windows
policies ? If so, does someone know about good reading material about
policies ? I do have "Mastering Windows XP professional" but that's
absolutely no help.
Thanks

Client behaviour with sieve
Hi,
I have a working dovecot imap-server, with sieve.
I find it odd that my mail-clients (Thunderbird 2 and 3) don't report
anything that's new in the folders.
What I mean is this :
Postfix get's a mail and hands it over to dovecot's LDA and sieve moves
it to a folder.
When I log in with Thunderbird, I see new messages in my Inbox. But that
message that was moved to a folder is

Two samba's not playing together
Hi,
I just tried to migrate my NT-PDC to samba-3.0.20b. Everything worked
fine except for a problem with my old file-server running samba-2.2.5
with winbind.
I can connect to and use shares on the new PDC and I can manage users
and groups. But when I try to connect to the file-server I'm refused access.
When I prepared this mail, I remarked that in smb.conf I somehow deleted
