Samba-created files with POSIX ACLs gaining execute bit
Hi all, The part that I don’t understand is why the behavior is different when there are ACLs involved. Take the below example: # This share is chmod 777, [share1] path = /srv/share1 # mode is 0777, no ACLs readonly = no create mask = 0660 [share2] path = /srv/share2 # mode is 0770, ACLs readonly = no inherit acts = yes create mask = 0660 share1 acts exactly as expected — I get a 0660

Webalizer displays wrong year
I just run webalizer manually on an Apache log, like I have done many times before. Some new statistics were created, but for "August 2006" instead of "August 2008". I cannot figure why! Because of my mistake, the webalizer statistics for this site have not been updated since February. Now I tried to update them for the first time - with the results I described above. The

Help pls. -- Samba permission question
Hi, All, I'm having a problem with my samba server(v3.6.9) setup. I have a share on the server: #cd / #mkdir managment #chown -R root:managegroup management #chowm -R 2770 management When I test this I found out: the managegroup member can create new file/dir with the correct permission: -rwxrws--- or drwxrws--- BUT, when the client copy a file or dir to the share from his local drive,

Samba-created files with POSIX ACLs gaining execute bit
Hi all, I have a Samba share set up using POSIX ACLs as the permissions backend. I am seeing an issue where files created via the Samba get execute permissions whereas files created via shell do not. Here’s my demonstration using “share2” as the root of my share: [root at samba srv]# ls -l total 0 drwxrwx---+ 2 root root 65 Dec 17 18:40 share2 [root at samba srv]# getfacl share2/ # file:

Bizarre - How did windows user setfacl for a file??
Listmates, In 8 years, since 2.02 (I think), I have never seen this behavior out of samba. I run a stand-alone server with WinXP clients. Somehow a legal assistant created (not intentionally mind you) files and directories with ACL attributes set: -rwxrwx---+ 1 cyndy ochiltree 21504 2008-10-28 16:48 AUTHORIZATION - employment.doc* -rwxrwx---+ 1 cyndy ochiltree 12804 2008-10-28 16:48

Samba-created files with POSIX ACLs gaining execute bit
Hai, The docs shown are a bit old, yes, i suggest start reading these. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_POSIX_ACLs Look at the smb.conf man and search for acl ( or exec ) Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Namens

delivering mail to public mbox with permission 660?
I am migrating a couple old RH servers running sendmail and UW-IMAP to a new Ubuntu 10.04 servers running Postfix and Dovecot. I have everything working reasonably well except that the permissions of newly created mbox mail folders is always 600. I have reviewed the archives, google, and double checked everything is as suggested in the Dovecot Wiki / SharedMailboxes / Permissions. I am

I've got a share where I needed the permissions to be 770 and I think an Apple Mac computer is connecting to a Samba share and changing the permissions each day. At the end of the day, I'll set permissions to: root at backblaze000002:/share1/QuinceCt/.TemporaryItems# ls -la total 12 drwxrwx--- 3 jlehmanjr qcbbwritetoquincectshare 16 Nov 15 14:57 . drwxrwx--- 9 jlehmanjr

Hi, I have a share (testshare) where different unix groups (testgroup1, testgroup2) should have access to. But I want that new files are only created with 660 permissions.
