Performance Problem / failed to verify PAC server signature
Hello List
We run a Solaris9 Server running Samba 3.0.20, Local Users (no winbind)
but authenticating against ADS.
There are up to 800 concurrent users, mostly Windows XP SP3.
When clients access MyDocuments, which is redirected to the Samba
share, we observe several

Windows share "bridge"
Hi,
I'm currently working on something quite ugly. We have a WindowsXP Home
system here that is used as a storage server. Windows XP Home restricts
the maximal user count to 5 users at a time that can connect to the
network share. My boss doesn't want to delete winblows because he feels
confident with it (except from the limitation) so a native samba server
isn't possible. A

Hi there,
I have used qemu to install FreeBSD 9.2 release, and i can boot it fine
with:
$ qemu-system-x86_64 -hda images/FreeBSD-9.2-RELEASE-amd64.img
I then made virsh aware of my brand new VM (see attached XML), but when

Booting...
CPU doesn't support long mode
From the log, here is the generated qemu command:

SLOW connections
Hi everyone,
I have a small home network with a Samba 2.2.3 server on Linux serving
up my files and printers. However, from windows machines (win 98)
connecting to a share takes an annoyingly long time (in the order of 10s
of seconds) Connecting from a linux box is very quick. I have
configured Windows 98 to fully reconnect the share on logon. If I don't,
Windows Explorer hangs all

winbind problem in ADS Domain
Hi all,
I just installed a Suse Linux 9.2 with Samba 3.0.0923
I would like to make this new server a member server of my active directory
domain
I think I configured almost anything correctly: I succesfully joined the
domain via LDAP with net ads join,
I can browse user and groups via wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g
I can browse user and groups via getent passwd and getent group
I can also give file

Converting Rails app to desktop with XUL?
Hi,
We are thinking about choosing Rails as our weapon of choice for our
next project, which is basically a text editor on steroids, whith some
functionality that need an Internet connection.
In the first step we are going to develop it as a plain web app
(AJAX-ified, yay!), however, in the next step we would like to port some
of the functionality (such as the editor) to a desktop app (which can

mail spool filesystem
Hi!
I?m about to migrate a system whith 5000 accounts whith (~ 500GB) from
"postfix/courier-imap/maildrop/mysql" to a new hardware whith
"postfix/dovecot/dovecot/mysql".
I?ll make a separate partition (raid 1) for the mail spool
(/var/spool/vmail) and want to now what type of filesystem to use on it
to increase performance. I read that XFS is a good choice, but is not

Print to File Formatting
Hello,
I am writing out to a file and have two quick questions that I can't
seem to track down the correct answers for. Luckily, I *think* they
are both simple enough that someone might be able to point me in the
right direction on them without too much trouble.
Both questions relate to the process below where CompleteFrame is a
data frame containing what I want printed to a file.

Is chain loading EFI apps not supported?
Greetings!
If I understand everything correctly, the last release of syslinux
supports UEFI, but it can't load another EFI application in this mode, so
practically only linux kernel can be bootloaded. Unfortunately, I have a
need to dualboot windows and linux with UEFI, and this holds me back from
using this amazing piece of software.
Have there since been any progress regarding this

core-dumps whith hp-ux 11.0 64-bit-architecture
Hi !
I have a serious problem whith samba-2.0.6 on hp-ux 11.0 64 bit arch.
Under hp-ux11.0 32 bit all works fine, but under 64 bit arch, compiled whith
gcc 2.9 , compilation finished whithout errors, but connection-trials from
nt-clients results in core dumps.A "file" core shows me the following
output:

Very low FPS in Wine/Ubuntu vs WindowsXP
New on Linux and Wine. I like most of what I see. Here is one problem I don't understand. I run dualboot Windows XP / Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx with Wine 1.3.6. Graphics - GeForce 9500 GT with Linux driver 195.36.24
Tested World of Warcraft and compared framerates in XP vs Ubuntu/Wine. With all parameters the same (same Config.wtf file with OpenGL set), same in-game options, same character,

Desktop Over NFS Home Blocked By Firewalld
Hi,
Just installed CentOS 7 that serves a home dir automounted over nfs.
SELinux is disabled. If I go to the client (oldish version of Fedora)
doing su - username works fine and the nfs export is mounted and I can
see all files and everything seems well. But trying to actually login
to the desktop from the client machine does not work. It starts to
login but then just hangs with a black screen.

Problems with Windows XP pro after initial login to Samba 3.0 server
Question: Does anybody have a solution for this problem?
Problem: Windows XP creates a new user with same name after initial machine
login to Samba domain. E.G. under Documents and settings the user name:
gilbert existed as a subdirectory with additional subdirectories such as
desktop, startup, MyDocuments, etc. The following procedure was used in
Windows XP to log the machine into the Samba

CentOS Convert Question
Hi,
First, I want to say that I have fallen in love with CentOS4. I have been
using RedHat since the 5.x days. After RedHat dropped the stable system
to go to a unstable system and a Enterprise system I felt like I was being
left out in the cold. I quickly found out about WhiteBox and used it for
quite a while. Then I learned about CentOS...and switched to it for my
server needs. I have
