Bad Password
Everyone, I am going nuts trying to figure this problem out. I have successfully joined a SUSE 10 server to our domain and configured samba for ADS authentication. This exact setup works on all my other servers. On this one, I keep getting access denied when entering my domain password despite the fact that I have tried it literally dozens of times. I am 100% confident I am

Winbind - DUAL_SID2UID empty domain?
I am having a strange problem that I thought someone might be help resolve. I am using Samba 3.4.7 at the moment, but I've had the same issue with Samba 3.4.6 and Samba 3.5.2. NOTE: Domain, hostnames, usernames and SIDs have been changed to protect the guilty. I am seeing an unable to successfully execute a variety of lookups from wbinfo and I think this is the underlying cause of some

problem with winbind and Sun PCNetlink
Sun PCNetlink is a NT4.0 PDC emulator. I'm running samba-3.0.13, joined to an ADS server that has a trust with a PCNetlink domain. My samba can authenticate fine against ADS accounts, but refuses to authenticate against the PCNetlink domain. I can do getent passwd "ADSDOM\user" and get an ADS user printed out, but if I use getent passwd "NT4DOM\user" nothing

Problem with winbind not seeing a user as part of a group
Everyone, Here is a challenge for all of you samba experts! Lately I have been seeing a problem where winbind is not correctly identifying a user as a member of a group he most certainly belong to. This is with a Domain Local group so I know samba should support it. Users access a HTTPS (SSL) webpage that is secured by a Domain Local group. Sometimes they get in,

Samba 3/ADC/Winbind problem
Greetings all. I am banging my head about this one, I will try to be as specific as possible, bear with me please. I have a W2KDC ADC, and trying to join a Samba 3 linux workstation to it. What works: net join: succeeded wbinfo -t: checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded wbinfo -m: return to prompt, no output wbinfo -u: correct list of local + AD members

Pre-3.023d-Bug in ACL-handling reappears in 3.026a
# wbinfo -Y S-1-5-11 Could not convert sid S-1-5-11 to gid # wbinfo -Y S-1-5-13 Could not convert sid S-1-5-13 to gid (S-1-5-11 are the Authenticated Users, S-1-5-13 are the Terminal Server Users.) This bug was finally solved in release 3.023d. Now it is back again. How can I get this working? I'm using idmap/tdb - would another idmap-module solve this issue? The winbind log looks like

Winbind Problem after Update from 3.0.21b -> 3.0.23b
Hi all, we're using Winbind on a Solaris 9 machine to authenticate our Users, who are held in a Windows 2003SP1 AD. We are now using Samba 3.0.21b and everything works as expected. I configured the nsswitch and installed "libnss_winbind.so" and "pam_winbind.so" as described in the documentation and winbind is able to resolve the AD users and groups and the useres are able

idmap_nss: Default domain not being used
I have an existing PDC which I am attempting to move across to a new server. On the new server, I'm having trouble with idmap (using an LDAP backend) and trusted domains. The smb.conf file is the same on both servers. My idmap & winbind parameters are as follows: ldap idmap suffix = ou=idmap idmap backend = ldap:ldap://127.0.0.1 idmap uid = 10000-29000 idmap gid = 10000-29000 winbind

Problem with , in Common Name when running samba3 as ADS Member (Problem with Group-Contents)
Hi, today we found the reason for a problem with Group-Memberships when running Samba as an ADS Domain Member. 1. Short Summary of the Environment =================================== = "old" Systems: - donald: Microsoft Windows 2000 as ADS Controller with 2 (daisy, tick) Backup Controller - 800 Users mostly replicated from Microsoft Exchange - 65 Groups - fix: Samba 2.2.8 on

S4-Winbind dumping core on password
Samba4-winbind (sernet-samba-4.0.9) on RHEL 6.4 dumps core on password authentication for a domain user (su/sudo), and so domain password authentication fails.? The machine is a standalone server in a Windows AD (2008R2) domain. PuTTY logins using GSSAPI work fine, kdestroy/kinit succeeds with AD password, but su'ing to the userid from a puttty session fails. The issue seems to be related to

Samba 3.0.31 stills fails to read and write to socket.
Hi, I recently upgraded my servers from 3.0.28 to 3.0.31 trying to solve the winbind issue previously reported (Bug# 5551) but the issue is still happening in my servers. I have an ftp server (vsftpd), configured to use pam_winbind with krb5_auth and I see some random disconnects and my users cant login. My samba servers are member of a Windows 2003 domain. The relevant lines on my

wbinfo -u fails in Samba-3.0.4 on Samba PDC/BDC
Dear list, Do any of you use the latest(3.0.4) as a Samba PDC(with OpenLDAP) on Linux ? If yes, have you encountered the following problem ? The setup is a PDC with an LDAP server running locally which is accessed directly and through nsswitch/PAM. A member server is providing shares to clients. When looking up domain users (wbinfo -u) from a member server(Solaris 8, OpenLDAP 2.1.25) there are

SID_TO_UID not working
Hello everyone, I use winbind against a Samba DC for nsswich, and on one client it works perfectly (Samba 3.5.15 on all systems). On another client, everything works except SID_TO_UID (i.e. wbinfo -i, -S ... which breaks directory listings, too). I've now tried to narrow down the problem in a level 10 log, but I need some help interpreting. In log.winbindd, I see the following when

Trying to get idmap backend using ADS working...
Hi folks, I have been trying to use the ADS as the IDMAP backend but without success. I have followed the examples in the HOWTO and Samba-3 by example. While both of these docs describe using LDAP as the repository, I have not been able to make the info work for ADS. I do not want to use LDAP nor ADS to authenticate Linux users, just for the UID/GID resolution. There will be multiple Samba

winbindd 3.0.10 stops functioning
I've recently upgraded from a 3.0.4 (or 3.0.6, I don't remember) to Samba 3.0.10 on a FreeBSD 5.2.1 system and now I'm having problems with winbind. It seems to run fine for a while, but then it hangs and starts taking a lot of CPU time (80-90% while idling), eventually it dumps core. I commented out the 'client use spnego' line because that caused winbindd to hang

Windbindd restarts and lost uids
We have a problem with our setup that exposed another problem in winbindd. Setup: Samba 3.0.1, openLDAP 1.2.23 for idmap backend using port 1389, security=ads (w2k). All works after we get the daemons started successfully. The first issue has to do with the initial setup of both a Samba server [smbd, nmbd, winbindd, slapd], and a Samba client [just nmbd and winbindd]. We do the

winbindd running amok
Hi, on a customer system samba/winbindd is used for windows and unix authentication. I just tuned searches of the ldap backend to speedup by factor 20-200 and slapd now doesn't seem to be the bottleneck anymore. Don't know how well the windows authentication now works, since this is presently done by the heartbeat failover server. However, simply starting 'mc' as root makes

Printer server on AD server
Finally is working... I'm not sure, but maybe the problem was stupid (spool folder did not exist for example). Now I've another weird problem and I don't know how to find out the solution. When I use the original server fqdn or the ip address it works prefect, but I've added another dns entry and using that dns name all shares fail. I can resolve the name and even I can see the
