Question about ACL.
Hi, I running samba-3.0.13-1 connect to W2k3, attr-2.4.19 and acl-2.2.27-1.
I've a strange problem with ACL settings, following the data structure.I
would that user1 could read/write only his personal folder, user1 belongs to
domain users and can reach the user folder but he can't see his personal
folder. I have tried to run setfacl -b (remove all ACL entries) and setup
them again, format

tkey-gssapi-credential and bind (Samba4)
So I am in step 10 of the samba4 howto
(https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO#Step_10_Configure_kerberos_DNS_dynamic_updates);
my bind9 is 9.7.3 which seems to be current enough for this. In it we
are to add
tkey-gssapi-credential "DNS/samdom.example.com";
tkey-domain "SAMDOM.EXAMPLE.COM";
to /etc/bind/named.conf.options. Since my test domain is
test.domain.com,

Hi,
I have a SAMBA4 box (CentOS 6.5, SAMBA 4.1.7) that joined a 2003 domain and I have transferred (not seized) all FSMO roles to the samba box. I demoted the 2003 DC (had to forceremoval). The Samba box now is the sole DC and DNS server on the network.
I followed the instructions in https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2014-February/097703.html for repairing the domain

I check the regKey (for plaintextpassword; set to 1).
Reinstalled SevPck 2, but didn't help. the problem must be
on Client side because I having the same problem when

Samba to share NFSv4 + ACL mounted filesystems on NetApp storage
Hi,
We are running into a problem with a Samba setup and would like to
know if a current fix or workaround is at all possible.
Our setup is a NetApp filer serving NFS v4 that is mounted by
Solaris and Linux servers. On those servers we are using Samba to
create shares of those NFSv4 mounted filesystems. We are migrating
to this NFSv4 setup from an existing Solaris NFSv3+Posix ACL setup

No ACL inheritance with aclmode=passthrough in onnv-134
Hi list,
while preparing for the changed ACL/mode_t mapping semantics coming
with onnv-147 [1], I discovered that in onnv-134 on my system ACLs are
not inherited when aclmode is set to passthrough for the filesystem.
This very much puzzles me. Example:
$ uname -a
SunOS os 5.11 snv_134 i86pc i386 i86pc
$ pwd
/Volumes/ACLs/dir1
$ zfs list | grep /Volumes
rpool/Volumes 7,00G 39,7G 6,84G

More checks for param/loadparm.c
Here's a second set of diffs for sanity-checking smb.conf files.
This one implements a basic set of checks on netbios names.
No, it won't recognize someone using an ip address, but
it will realize the dots don't belong:
$ testparm
Load smb config files from /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf

Round 2 - Guest Share on WXP Host
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help so far. Not quite there but I
think I'm close. For anyone new, it's a private 2 comp network (RH9 and
WXP) so I just want the simplest guest access possible.
This is my current smb.conf file:

workgroup = SAMBA
encrypt passwords = yes
smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd
security = share

the domains. All domaincontrollers are Windows 2003 Server. The setup of
the Forest-Trusts are identically (as the DC-Admin says).

Sharing Printer - Insufficient rights?
Hello Samba List,
i have problems sharing, or better connecting to a printer shared via samba
(3.0.10):
Situation:
- W2K ADS Domain - which auth's the users
- WXP Client, which log's in via the W2K-ADS (and auth's of course)
- Samba (Linux) ADS-Member, which shares Printer and $HOME
- security=ADS
- winbind to get AUTH-Info from the W2K ADS Controller
Everything seems to work

Thanks for your quick replies
Yes, we are using a ctdb setup, and having the same netbios name was
something I understood as necessary there. Thanks for confirming
To clarify, currently we are not fetching any kerberos tickets for any
reason on the samba server. We are not using `kinit` explicitly anywhere
and everything seems to be working. In a previous setup we were calling it
because I

OT - Windows slowdown?
I know this isn't the right forum for this (do I ever!), but you-all know so
much about everything I thought I'd ask.
About two months ago I resurrected my daughter's Compaq laptop (cracked
screen - replaced it) and ran an update on it. It's running Windows XP, SP1
(I think), but since the update it has run about 1/3 as fast as it used to.
Does anyone know if there was a WXP
