Re: Horrendously slow transfer speeds in FC3 is drivi ng mecrazy!!! Please help... - SOLVED!
Does SMB need Push bits acknowledged? I had a similar problem with sloooow printing on OpenBSD, and had to set the AckOnPush parameter to enabled. That cured the printing issue for me. Horrendously slow transfer speeds in FC3 is drivingmecrazy!!! Please help... - SOLVED!
Thanks for the tip but recompiling the latest version was the second thing I did after trying and failing to tweak the smb.conf on my original hardware conf. I found that compiling it for my specific architecture (i686) increased my performance by 100% (from a punny 0.8 MB/s to a better but still punny 1.6 MB/s). -----Original Message----- From: Diego Julian Remolina

x-sendfile horrendously slow?
I''m using Camping (though I suspect this applies to RoR just as well, and if you have an RoR specific answer I''d be happy to hear it, I may switch) to do a number of things for an internal application, one of which is transferring large files (~2GB each) between machines over the network. I thought the easy route would just be to make an app that when given the filename, serves

Strangely slow tranfers speeds with samba 3.0.10 and FC3...
Ok, I've found some references to this issue with samba on the net, but not related to the version of samba I'm running (which is 3.0.10, updated version that comes with Fedora Core 3). My problem is this, I've got a Compaq Proliant 2500 (dual Pentium Pro-200MHz with 256MB RAM and the standard Netintelligent 10/100 network controller that come with it)... I've narrowed down that

bond0 performance issues in 5.6
Hi all, I've got two gigabit ethernet interfaces bonded in CentOS 5.6. I've set "miimode=1000" and I've tried "mode=" 0, 4 and 6. I've not been able to get better than 112MB/sec, which is the same as the non-bonded interfaces. My config files are: === cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-{eth1,eth2,bond0} # SN1 HWADDR=00:30:48:fd:26:71

Decent Performance
Hi all, I am trying to get some decent speed out of a vanilla Debian (Proxmox) box and am running out of ideas. Basically I can exchange data at 110MB/sec (raw, nfs, ftp) but not with Samba shares. I tried almost every samba tuning tip I could find to no avail. The only optimisation left to smb.conf at the moment is debug level = 0. As one can see the robocopy throughput is merely half of what

routing in xen 3.0: icmp gets routed, but tcp/ip only partially
Hello folks, I have this really strange routing problem that no amount of googling and experimenting has been able to solve. Then again, I''m new to Xen and "advanced" networking, so I could be missing something very basic. Summary: an unprivileged domU with PCI frontend for a NIC is used as a router; icmp gets routed, but tcp/ip only partially. I''m using a

using theora
Having built libtheora-1.0alpha3, I tried it out on a 46 second long, 161 MByte raw dv format video clip. First, I copied these lines from ogg-theora-microhowto.html <snip> mplayer -ao pcm -aofile stream.wav -vo null file_to_be_encoded.avi & mplayer -vo yuv4mpeg -ao null -nosound file_to_be_encoded.avi & encoder_example -v 1 -a 1 stream.wav stream.yuv > theora_file.ogg

ntwork problem
I switched my file server's hard disks from a p-2 350 to a p-3 deley 1.1 ghz. I ran kudzu and it detected the new nic and unconfigured the old one. I may have messed up the static ip assignment because hte system is not able to do anything on the network. How do i check the ipaddress asignment and also ensure the proper linksys LNE-100TX driver is loaded? thanks. William -- Computer

read server certificate B: certificate verify failed error is driving people crazy
It seems like there must be a better way of dealing with these errors in a puppermaster-agent setup. I currently have one master and one agent that work, running on ubuntu 10.10 (maverick meerkat server). On another machine, same os and hardware, I try installing with the same steps and when I run sudo puppet agent --test --verbose --debug --server <serverhostname>, it is constantly

Problems with Mesa 6.5.2 and open drivers ("driving" me crazy)
OK, I'm sure this has been mentioned before but I'm really struggling now! The problem is best described here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9456 I've added my own Mandriva cooker bug here: http://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=27971 People also make reference to the issue here: http://forum.go-compiz.org/viewtopic.php?t=309&view=next Has anyone got any ideas?

thank you Josh and Brian, I have tried to change the padding and I succeded in getting a same size file ... but still different :-( > ... different code paths through the encoder chosen at > runtime that are optimized for different environments which can > create different streams That said, I have to give up, there will be still cases in which I cannot get exactly the same FLAC file.

sendmail / logwatch relaying issue - driving me crazy
Hallo, *<:-) may be I'm to tired to see the solution, maybe someone can give me a hint? I do have a couple of servers, sending the daily logwatch report to a central support email account. Some servers do have DNS A and CNAME records. On my mailserver relaying for the servers is allowed. Only one server drives me crazy, getting user unknown or releaying denied messages. Any idea, how

zfs/fstyp slows down recognizing pcfs formatted floppies
I''ve noticed that fstyp on a floppy media formatted with "pcfs" now needs somewhere between 30 - 100 seconds to find out that the floppy media is formatted with "pcfs". E.g. on sparc snv_48, I currently observe this: % time fstyp /vol/dev/rdiskette0/nomedia pcfs 0.01u 0.10s 1:38.84 0.1% zfs''s /usr/lib/fs/zfs/fstyp.so.1 seems to add about 40 seconds to that

Something's driving me crazy
I decode and then re-encode a FLAC file someone sent to me, and I get a different file (about 3K larger). I have used: - the same version of FLAC.EXE (hash-checked) used to create the original FLAC file - the same level of compression - no tag infos were included in the original FLAC file I can't really figure out how could it be possible, but sometimes it happens (of course many times I

Memory leak during instantiation of a reference class?
