PLEASE help with printing problem
I can't seem to find an answer or a workaround, and I've received stoney silence on this one. There aren't any answers in the archives (well, I didn't find any in the hours on several days I spent, anyhow). I'm convinced that I can't be the *only* one with this problem, nor am I convinced that there is absolutely no one who can help. Please feel free to jump in with

W9x print driver download problems with Samba 2.2.5 and CUPS 1.1.15
Greetings, Similar to the other CUPS thread, but not the same. Samba 2.2.5 built on a Sparc Solaris 9 box with Cups 1.1.5. I've set up Samba to print with Cups as outlined in the docs. I am able to download the generic Adobe print driver to my Windows 2000 clients but the Windows 98 clients are asking for a local driver to be installed. Looking at verbose output from cupsaddsmb,

Hi, I'm using latest Samba version 2.2.8a and are preparing a production server system, which was working fine recently in development stage. My system is basically a SuSE 8.2 Pro with some of the applications being installed manually from source. I'm using CUPS as printer backend and add printers to the system using lpadmin Afterwards I make a reload (or even a restart) of smbd and

WIN40 printer driver on Solaris not being installed?
I am having problems with the driver installation for WIN40 (9x machines) in Samba 2.2.5 / Samba 2.2.6pre2 on a Solaris 8 machine. I build binary packages for both debian and solaris environments. For debian 2.2.5, I use the 2.2.5 source with the printing patch provided by Jerry Carter. I use the packaging/Debian/debian systems to build and package the source. For Solaris I use the

Samba 3.0.0: Problems with printing from win98 client
I'm having a problem when a user wants to print using a win98 client, the machine hangs up and i get a process that consumes nearly 90% of CPU time owned by the user who sends the job. I configuredd the smb.conf log level in 5 and i get this error: [2003/12/18 14:43:02, 3] smbd/lanman.c:api_reply(3542) Doing DosPrintQGetInfo [2003/12/18 14:43:02, 3]

I've been trying to upgrade from samba 3.4.5 to 3.5.x (currently 3.5.3) on a Ubuntu 9.10 system where I compile my own Samba. The server is a PDC for several win2000 clients and uses an LDAP backend hosted on the same machine. After the upgrade, clients can connect to shares but can not perform domain logons. 3.5.3 does not build a browse list of other domains on the subnet. Executing

Workaround: 3.4.5->3.5.3 breaks domain logons
I turned off server signing, and domain logons work now. On the server, I had set lanman auth = no ntlm auth = yes and the clients have Digitally sign client communication (when possible) Enabled Digitally sign server communication (when possible) Enabled LAN Manager Authentication Level Send NTLMv2 response only\refuse LM So my guess is that the samba update changes the

Problems with printing=plp
Hello, i've some problems with the plp printer spooler on linux: I changed from bsd printing to plp printing. Previously (with bsd style printing) i was able to browse and delete active printjobs, stop and activate printers from within the win9x/winnt boxes. After changing to plp this is no longer possible. The printjobs themself are still printed. Some output in the log.smb (with debug

Delay to join a domain successfully
Hi team, I'm running samba 3.0.4 on AIX 4.3.3 and HP-UX 11.00 without any problems except the following : On HP-UX 11.00, when I try to join a machine to a domain, it first insert all POSIX entries in the LDAP backend but rejects the junction. The machine account could not be found. Waiting for a while and relaunching the join command, the junction just works fine. Having exactly the same

NT can't print while Win 95 can?
Hello all, I have a printing problem with NT, Samba 1.9.18p8 and Debian Linux 1.3 (Kernel 2.0.32). I defined a printer share, which works fine with Win95, but it does not print with NT 4.0 SP3 and NT 3.51. After installing the "EnablePlainTextPassword" registry entry NT4.0 is able to browse, connect and use a file system share on the printserver, but it can not print to the same

dotless i problem samba3 - win98
Hello, I try samba 3.0.2a with Mandrake 10 Official release. It works pretty well but one exception, "dotless i", a Turkish character. The other Turkish characters works. If any filename contains dotless i, this file/directory is inaccessible from win98 clients. I setup with Turkish locale. And i run samba with "export LC_ALL=C". Otherwise it runs, but doesn't share

"conversion error" and NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi list, sorry in case I do ask a FAQ, but I did in fact find some more mentions of a problem like this, but always without a solution. I upgraded our Samba server today (from 2.10/SuSE to 3.0x/Debian) and have problems with some of the clients (Windows XP). When trying to access a share from these clients, I get a NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE, and increasing the log level reveals several occurences

setting passwords from Windows
I'd like to change Samba passwords from win95 and NT4 clients. I use security=user. I don't give shell access to every user, so they can't use smbpasswd. I've tested from a win95 client with the precompiled samba-2.0.4b.i386.rpm: net pass \\greg greg test1 test2 I'd used smbpasswd to change greg's password to test1 on host greg prior to this. Here's the smbpasswd
