LDAP user search request includes domain
Hi,
I'm running a Samba 3.0.32 server on AIX 6.1, AIX is authorizing with
secldapclntd to an OpenLDAP Server.
The Clients are coming from a Windows 2003 Terminal Server Thin Client
session, logged in to the domain.
I see in the logs that secldapclntd tries 3 times to authorize using
DOMAIN\USER as identification, and then finally uses USER(which works).
Is this Samba behavior, or AIX? Is

- XP clients
- and Samba domain member on AIX 5.3 (samba 3.0.14a)
This is what I did:
- Compiled samba

Samba 3 Operational Question
We have three Samba 2.2.8a DC's. They share the smbpasswd database over
NFS. This is not a problem whatsoever. It works wonderfully!
We are becoming a complete LDAP authenticating site for everything and
want to migrate the smbpasswd file to LDAP. We have the scripts to process
all of this so I don't see a problem with merging the sambaSamAccount info
with our posixAccount stuff which I

these are vdsm-hooks, they run on the host, not on the engine (manager).
the engine does allow you, if

idmap backend
Simple question, I think.
passdb backend supports multiple entries for automatic failover of ldap
services when using ldapsam.
Does the code base for idmap backend support the same failover facility?
Cheers,

VOIP - INBOUND Call - best setup
What would be my best option to receive calls via VOIP.
I would like to use it as an alternative number when my main number is
busy.
The solution is not that easy as in order for customer to be a free call
DID=Direct Inward Dialing provider would need to be a local company, I
think. Correct my anybody if I'm wrong.
I'm located in Alberta Canada so my chases are even smaller.

EL7 mirror: "There is no installed groups file."
I installed the RHEL 7 beta here to test while waiting for CentOS 7 to
arrive. On noticing that yum didn't work, I decided to set up a local
mirror. I rsync'd
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/rhel/beta/7/x86_64/os/Packages/
to a local web server here, then regenerated the repodata directory with
createrepo.
Now yum works fine, for the most part. "yum search foo" pulls

It would be helpful if you were to use dput to give us the sample data
since you say you have already imported it.

DHH Interviewed by MySQL
I didn''t see anyone post a link to David''s Interview by Lenz here on the list so I decided to post it.
The interview can be accessed here:

I was very happy to see the interview on PlanetMySQL as just the other day I was talking about RubyOnRails on my MySQL blog which is syndicated

using physical disks with HVM
Hi,
As a previous thread in
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2006-06/msg01111.html
tells, it should be possible tun run hvm domains with a physical disk.
There where other threads about this, but no solution for my current
problem.
When I try to use a disk defined as
disk = [ ''phy:data/faitest-client-generic-hvm-disk,ioemu:hda,w'']

Ah ha!
The fact is I didn't really understand the significance of this part
when I read it, and so didn't remember it when I needed it. OK, so I
have tested it and I can now build up a struct like this
%s1 = insertvalue {i32, i32} {i32 0, i32 0}, i32

upgrade from 2.2p1 to 3.Xp1
Hi,
at the begining of summer we were planning to upgrade the openssh
version up to 3.4, but nowadays we would like to upgrade to 3.7...
now we have the same problems we found with the 3.4 version: it seems
as 2.2 and 3.X are incompatible versions, or they use incompatible
methods to exchange some information that we don't know how to
change...
we need interoperation during the upgrade

panel.abline and xyplot
Dear All,
I am wondering on how to use the abline.xyplot with xyplot such that I will have different vertical lines for each panel. More sepcifically, suppose that the xyplot generates 4 panels defined by the combination of two binary variables: X_1 and X_2. i.e.
xyplot(Y ~ Z | X_1*X_2, data = df)
I want something like:
abline(v = 5) if X_1=0 and X_2 = 0
abline(v =

Binary Logit Regression with R
Hi to all,
I am a PH.D Student doing statistical analysis.
I am totally new to R. I previously use Stata and am changing into R. I
ususally do with logit regression with binary dependent variable (war
occurence:1 or 0).
I just want to know command to do that. More sepcifically,
Let say, my Y is war occurence (occur=1, otherwise 0). And my independent
variables (Xs) are trade, democracy,

www.centos.org and the wildcard dns
hi guys,
At the moment there is a www.centos.org site. There is also a wildcard
dns setup that directs anything.centos.org to www.centos.org's content
This has a couple of 'issues' with SEO and google sepcifically. The
reason we have such low page rank is that google marks all of this as
duplicate content. I am sure there are other search engines that do as
well ( Bing has a

Samba wins eWeek and PC Magazine "Innovation in Infrastructure" (i3) award for best Enterprise Software !
Hi all,
I was in Las Vegas yesterday accepting an award from eWeek and
PC Magazine on behalf of Samba for the Innovation in Infrastructure Award
in the "Enterprise Software" catagory !
The award was sepcifically for Samba 2.2.2, and we beat out Sun Microsystems
Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Version 1.4 and Bea Systems WebLogic Server 7.0
for the award, so I'm stunned that we
