SID-UID mapping issue on Samba 3.0.4 in an AD Domain
I have problems with SID to UID mapping using winbind on a FreeBSD 5.2/Samba 3.0.4 as a member server of a Win2k domain controller. I use heimdal-0.6.1 for kerberos. I would like my XP machines in the domain to use the share with the user accounts defined in Active Directory. At a first glance it seems to work: the connection to the share succeeds without a prompt for a password. Users may

Copy to smb share fails with "invalid argument" on CentOS 7
Hi, I've had problems copying files to Windows shares from my CentOS 7 machine lately. I originally got this in the desktop file manager, but find that I can also reproduce using gvfs-copy. "cp" to the directory mounted by gvfs works just fine, on the other hand. Also, the problem does not occur with small files - I think anything below 64k is OK. The following command sequence

Using corStruct in nlme
I am having trouble fitting correlation structures within nlme. I would like to fit corCAR1, corGaus and corExp correlation structures to my data. I either get the error "step halving reduced below minimum in pnls step" or alternatively R crashes. My dataset is similar to the CO2 example in the nlme package. The one major difference is that in my case the 'conc' steps are

nlme: correlation structure in gls and zero distance
Dear listers, I am trying to model the distribution of fox density over years in the Doubs department. Measurements have been taken on 470 plots in March each year and georeferenced. Average density is supposed to be different each year. In a first approach, I would like to use a general model of this type, taking spatial correlation into account:

Comparing execution times
Dear all, In my 'simple' computer I was running some experiments to help me understand how faster a multicore lapply will be. I thought it might be interesting for some people to look at the results. Even though are not accurate, still might be a good indicator how much improvement there can be. A.Case. The classic: for 1:100 for (i in c(1:dimz)){ print(sprintf('Creating the %d

impenetrable warning
Dear R-help, Can anyone explain the meaning of the warning, Singular precision matrix in level -1, block 1 ? Or how to track down where it comes from? More precisely, using the nlme package, I'm issued with the warning itt2 <- lme(lrna~rx.nrti+lbrna, random=~1|patid, cor=corExp(form=~days|patid, nugget=T), weights=varPower( form=~lbrna),data=rna3) Warning messages: 1: Singular

understanding the output from gls
I'd like to compare two models which were fitted using gls, however I'm having trouble interpreting the results of gls. If any of you could offer me some advice, I'd greatly appreciate it. Short explanation of models: These two models have the same fixed-effects structure (two independent, linear effects), and differ only in that the second model includes a corExp structure for

Share Bridging...?
We've got Samba 2.2.8a running on FreeBSD 4.8. This particular machine is multihomed with a recompiled kernel facilitating NAT. Our goal was to isolate our software QA lab so to keep them from spreading potential problems to our production network. This system has a single share called /data. Within /data are folders and files that are stored locally. Also in this directory are folders that

GAMM and anove.lme question
Greetings all The help file for GAMM in mgcv indicates that the log likelihood for a GAMM reported using summary(my.gamm$lme) (as an example) is not correct. However, in a past R-help post (included below), there is some indication that the likelihood ratio test in anova.lme(mygamm$lme, mygamm1$lme) is valid. How can I tell if anova.lme results are meaningful (are AIC, BIC, and logLik

R version 3.3.2, Windows 10: gstat package: Error in fitting a variogram model using 'fit.variogram' function
Dear Members, I am trying to fit a variogram model using fit.variogram function from the gstat package. The figure showing my experimental variogram can be seen here: https://i.stack.imgur.com/UZXw4.png My code line for this operation is: > c2.vgm.fit<-fit.variogram(c2.vgm.exp,vgm(nugget=0, psill=400,model="Exp",range =40000),fit.method = 7) The system throws following error

rsync: readdir(.): Bad file descriptor (9)
Hi, I've spent the better part of three weeks tracking into this problem. I hope you don't mind a post here on smbfs, but I was hoping someone might have some insight or ideas on where to look next. Summary: trying to rsync folders across an smb mounted share with EXACTLY 50 objects (folder or files), results in the error rsync: readdir(.): Bad file descriptor (9) Details The problem

spatial correlation in lme and huge correlation matrix (memory limit)
Hi, I'm trying to introduce a (spatial) exponential correlation structure (with range=200 and nugget.effet of 0.3) in a lme model of this form: lme(ARBUS~YEAR, random=~1|IDSOUS). The structure of the data is "IDSOUS" "XMIN" "YMAX" "YEAR" "ARBUS" with 2 years of data and 5600 points for each year. I do:

Loading the contents of a CSV file to a database
Hello Everybody, I picked up on the buzz about RoR and wanted to see what the fuss is about. So far i am very impressed but have hit a bit of a wall with a little play app i am writting. I want to iterate through a CSV file of my bank transactions and see just how much money i spend on beer and pies every month. I have successfully setup a database with a single table called transactions

odd (erroneous?) results from gls
A couple weeks ago I posted a message on this topic to r-help, the response was that this seemed like odd behavior, and that I ought to post it to one of the developer lists. I posted to r-sig-mixed-models, but didn't get any response. So, with good intentions, I decided to try posting once more, but to this more general list. The goal is (1) FYI, to make you aware of this issue, in case it

Zero distance error in corSpatial - correlation structure using lme
Hello, I am having a problem specifying the correlation structure in lme which leads to the error: Error in getCovariate.corSpatial(object, data = data) : Cannot have zero distances in "corSpatial". I have specified a grouping variable which is the only fix I could find by searching this error on R-help. ISee the below example. When my samples (tran) - which are transects

how to enable auto-start on newer versions of Xen ?
Hello, In days past, all I had to do was create /etc/xen/auto and put a symlink in there to the config file for each VM I wanted to have started automatically. Since updating to 4.6, this doesn't work.? Period. I'm having a hard time finding what needs to change in order to get VMs to auto start on reboot of a server.? Can someone please point me to documentation that I have missed

creating a new corClass for lme()
Hi, I have been using the function lme() of the package nlme to model grouped data that is auto-correlated in time and in space (the data was collected on different days via a moving monitor). I am aware that I can use the correlation classes corCAR1 and corExp (among other options) to model the temporal and spatial components of the auto-correlation. However, as far as I can tell, I can only

Current Open Source Billing Package
After spending a couple hours scanning for an open source (non- commercial) billing package yesterday I am underwhelmed. Almost all of the packages listed on the WIKI appear to be defunct, for several years now. I will be happy to get a login and edit them out if that is the proper method to do so. My requirements are very minimal and at this point unless I have missed something will
