4.2 install w/250GB raid arrays won't boot
hi! raid 1 arrays: I already have 2 systems running this same raid1 config. 1 sys has 2 120 gb 1 sys has 1 120gb and 1 200gb but matching the raid partitions this system here that is giving me fits right now has 1 250gb and 1 200gb. I tried it w/a new 250 gb for the 2nd drive but the same results. Will not boot. in druid, when I am config. the raid arrays, I always create the boot partitions

Multi-line graph?
Hi, I am relatively new to R but not to graphing, which I used to do in Excel and a few other environments on the job. I'm going back to school for a PhD and am teaching myself R beforehand. So I hope this question is not unacceptably ignorant but I have perused every entry level document I can find and so far I'm out of luck. I'm trying to graph some simple music psychology data.

Dell R605 w/ Perc 6/i problem
I think there was just a thread 'bout this, and I didn't pay attention... and then I walked into our smallest server room to rebuild a server with CentOS... and that's what it is. The problem I'm having is this: there are two 1T SAS drives, raided, via the controller. There's also a 750G SATA drive. The Dell test suite sees it, and reports that SMART says it's fine.

swat options
Hi, New to Samba. I have it working correctly with clients from Linux and W2000 workstations. However, SWAT only shows the links for "VIEW", "Passwords", "Configuration?"--no "Global". In other words, I can view my configuration but I cannot set-up or change settings, shares, etc. Specs: Samba 2.2 Debian 2.2r3 Using webmin for everything but Samba

Is this list still active?
I haven't seen traffic here in eons.. Could someone help me with SWAT? Based on the permissions given when connecting to SWAT, and by the passwords screen, it *looks* like one can give someone (other than root) access to modify samba shares through SWAT. Does anyone know how to accomplish this? SWAT's documentation is very poor.... Regards, Will

megaraid/PERC
I've got two drives from a now-dead server, they were RAIDed, a mirror, I'd assume. I need to see if there's anything on them I need to transfer to the replacement, so I just shoved them into another Dell server, with a PERC 5 controller - I think that's what the dead one had. I fired up MegaRAID storage manager... but can't see any way to tell it to recreate that RAID. Anyone

Backup
We have a RHEL2 server that has had one of the drives in the raid array fail. I would like to do a full backup of the system before we replace the raided drive, in case the second drive decides to die during the procedure. What is the recommended way to back up a linux system? I was thinking of doing a snapshot, but the system is ext3 with no LVM. It has been suggested to hook up a usb

160 analogue phones..
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to connect 160 analogue phones to an asterisk PBX? Background information: A client wishes to replace their current PBX with a new VoIP system. Currently they have 2 PRIs. I intent to set up 2 asterisk PBXs with Debian GNU/Linux on raided drives. These drives will be mounted only read-only to recover gracefully from power-cycles. I am considering 2

HD/Partitions/RAID setup
I have a machine that's been configured as follows using its BIOS tools: SATA-0 is a 160 GiB drive used as boot SATA-1 and SATA-2 are both 500 GiB drives and were configured as a RAID-1 in BIOS. When the system boots up, BIOS reports 1 160 GiB SATA drive, and 1 Logical volume as RAID-1 ID#0 500 GiB, which is what I would expect it to report, as the two drives are now raided

C 7 installation annoyances
In the disk partitioner, I can't 1) choose to make the LVM with root and swap be on a RAID 1. Is there some way to do that, rather than two separate partitions RAIDed? 2) They don't align, so I can't clone /dev/sda to /dev/sdb as a failover (for /boot and /boot/efi). I've created those two, manually, and nope, it wiped them out, so I can't clone

/dev/sd and /dev/mapper
I've done a little research, and can't really find out why it happens, but on one server I have built, I get the old fashion /dev/sda1, /dev/sda2 type partitions and on another server I get the /dev/mapper style partitions. Both machines are hardware raided (before the install) and both machines are Centos 5.5 64 bit, using the same set of CDs to install from. Can someone please

moving software RAIDed disks to other machine
I just replaced two md-raided (RAID1) disks with bigger ones and decided to check out how far I get with them when I put them in another machine. The kernel boots and then panics when it wants to mount the root filesystem on the disk. md: Autodetecting RAID arrays md: autorun md: autorun DONE < not sure if this means it was successful or failed, I rather think it failed because it

winbind on AIX
I'm trying to get Samba on AIX 5.1 to work in appliance-like mode. I would like NT domain users to get automatically and persistently mapped to AIX/Unix users. This stuff seemed to work fine without much effort on Solaris 9, but AIX is a different story, and I'm new to AIX as well. AIX 5.1 doesn't use nss so winbind, in its current form, can't work. I saw a post from January

Ecabinets - problems accessing multiple db
I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I have a program called eCabinets that I can install and launch. some of the functions work fine. Others, not so fine. When I click on some of the functions, I get a "Can not open ecabinets files". and when I close the program I get a message: DAO exception thrown: You attempted to open a database that is already open exclusively by

How to test RAID-5
Hi all, 1. Is RAID-5 fault tolerant? 2. I make a RAID-5 array with 3 disk. The /boot is on RAID-1 partition, the rest are raided 5. When I simulate disk failure by unplugging sda and restarting Centos. Grub fails in stage 1.5. What is the correct way of simulating harddisk failure in RAID-5? If I unplug the other drives, it manages to boot ok. Thank you. -- Fajar Priyanto | Reg'd Linux

File size diff between NFS mount and local disk
Hi all, I never really paid attention to this but a file on an NFS mount is showing 64M in size, but when copying the file to a local drive, it shows 2.5MB in size. My NFS server is hardware Raided with a volume stripe size of 128K were the volume size is 20TB. My NFS clients are the same distro as the server being Centos. Is this due to my stripe size? Nuggets are appreciated. - aurf

partition woes (mapper/isw_bdihgcgahe_Volume0p2)
Hi, I found 2 identical drives lying around and put them into a system. When booting from a Centos 5.x installer, and when being presented with the formatting option (disk druid), it says I have 1 volume of; mamapper/isw_bdihgcgahe_Volume0p2 I can't seem to get rid of it. I have 2 physical disks but disk druid is seeing 1 volume thats the same size as one of the 2 identical drives.
